MDX Primer

Post by PXB »

As promised, the MDX Primer is attached.

Please note that everything in it worked in the version(s) quoted and in the model described. YMMV. If something doesn't work now, report it to Applix.

Philip Bichard

This document should be "wikiized" ( yes it's a word, 41 hits on google ;) )
so the contents are visible on search engines and we can edit/amend it as I did on bihints.com

Ultimately the full TM1 documentation should be turned into a wiki.
I talked to some Applix managers about that but they didn't really appreciate the idea claiming docs must be accurate,
although I strongly believe crowdsourcing docs through wiki would deeply enrich these.

First of all
Ultimately the full TM1 documentation should be turned into a wiki.
I talked to some Applix managers about that but they didn't really appreciate the idea claiming docs must be accurate,
ROFL, I would say wiki docs are likely to be more accurate....
and I sitckyed this, which I'm pretty sure isn't a word no matter what google says!

err I couldn't sitcky the doc as the forum is bugged.... Who's in charge round here??

I edited the original post by Philip and made it a sticky. That seemed to do the job.

Chris Web has some good MDX stuff on his blog, he could also be a decent reference.

Shame Spaces is a blocked site from here. Or not, as the case may be ;)
If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.

A co-worker of mine came across an updated version of your document. Would you be willing to put it on the forum?

Glad everyone finds it useful after all these years. The latest version lives permanently on my website at www.pxbconsulting.com. It's easier to maintain that way, not that it's changed too much in recent times. I do get emails from readers from time to time so I know people are finding the 'real' version. I'm afraid I don't really use this forum myself. As you may know the version on bihints.com is an early draft - it was too much work to maintain, hence the current simple way of publishing it.

All the best,
Philip Bichard
