IBM License Metric Tool?

Post by macsir » Tue Jul 02, 2019 11:29 pm

Hi, all
We are experiencing IBM audit and Partner recommended to install this tool going forward. Could anyone share any idea about this tool? Is it easy to install? Thanks.

from his memory came across once. The installation consists of ~ 42 steps. In principle, everything is not difficult but depends on your infrastructure.

If you need it or not depends on your licence so your partner should be able to tell you exactly if you need it or not. I would have thought that if you needed it and the audit is already underway then your going to have a potentially expensive problem.

Broadly you need ILMT if you are running TM1 on a VM and your licence has a PVU limit.

If you don't have ILMT then you could be billed for all the PVUs on the box the VM is running in.

The install is challenging for a non-specialist in this area and I would recommend finding some money and using a specialist to do the install.

Mac,

I've literally just done it. The best thing for me was the series of videos on you tube. It's on the IBM channel. Find the play list and follow them. Some bits have moved away from the videos but what you need to do instead is covered in the video comments,

Jim.

PS. I would include the link but I don't have access to you tube on my client machine.
