Time : 1d vs 2d

OK so it was bound to happen in the end. To stop other threads being hijacked by this issue which is one of the first design decisions everyone makes when they build a TM1 system, I thought I'd start a thread on the 1d vs 2d issue. I don't have time to post my thoughts right now but I will do soon. ...

Consolidations based on Subsets

Firstly just to make people aware that this functionality exists, I did not know of it (or did and have forgotten, which is more likely)and it has just caused someone a massive problem and not a little embarrassment. My time dimension is years and periods and I have a subset called 2008 that holds t...

Re: Feeder and display zero values

Olivier, The important thing to remember with feeders is that they only begin at the N level. Once an N level is populated or fed then the C levels above it get "fed" or flagged for calculation. When you did not have a rule at the N level, even if your feeder was correct, the C levels would not get ...

Re: Clear in cube viewer using "c"

Just a tip for anyone who wants to disable this type of top down spreading functionality. If you have cell level security cube and set all the C levels in the cube to be read only this prevents the spreading from working without any other impact on the users. []=S:IF((ISLEAF=1),stet, 'READ'); You ca...

Re: Consolidation Efficiency

1) Does everyone suffer from thinking their predecessor had no clue what they were doing? 2) Is my predecessor going to think this about me? :o Interesting comment! I think that TM1 suffers from this alot since there is so much "style" involved in the build of systems. I think it's also interesting...

Re: New to TM1: Security in Dimensions Elements

I'd agree with David, the security values are for internal use by TM1 and so feeding them is not important and wont change the performance of the system. In fact it probably makes it worse as there must be some overhead to firing feeders. The only real use is if you wanted to zero-suppress the cube ...

Re: TM1 Job in the Boston Area

Given the state of our glorious English Summer at the moment why would any want to move somewhere with the same weather as England? Is this an attempt by your wife to make you even more unhappy Jim? I'm going canal boating near Leighton Buzzard this weekend so at least I will already be in boat when...

V9.1 TM1.Comm.SSL SSL read error Error: 5

Morning all! I'm getting this message in the message log at the end of a sequence of data load TIs. TM1.Comm.SSL SSL read error Error: 5 The TI process has previously been working correctly but it now seems to be behaving oddly. Obviously I'm going to take a hard look at the TI but has anyone seen t...

Mike L, isn't What I really want is some control flow scripting statements at the chore level, instead of just a primitive sequence of processes, but I am not holding my breath. available to you via the ExecuteProcess command? This also passes the error code back to the calling process which gives y...

Re: MDX Primer

First of all Ultimately the full TM1 documentation should be turned into a wiki. I talked to some Applix managers about that but they didn't really appreciate the idea claiming docs must be accurate, ROFL, I would say wiki docs are likely to be more accurate.... and I sitckyed this, which I'm pretty...

Re: Excel VB MDX to 9.1SP3x64 - Very, very slow...

Alain. I'm no MDX expert so I can't offer you any direct advice. A couple of things you can do though. 1. Make sure you raise it with Cognos support so they can fix the issue in future releases. 2. Post your MDX in case one of the experts can suggest a more efficient approach. Were you on 64 bit 844...

Re: Formula in excel

Sounds like you already have an event that handles the hide and unhide event. How about in the VBA When the row is hidden cell.value=0 'i.e. remove the DBRW from the cell When the row is unhidden copy formula from another section onto the recently unhidden stuff..'Put the DBRw back Provided the rela...

Re: CellPutProportionalSpread

Not sure, I think if you have to produce the summary cube you are going to be calculating the same data anyway so in theory there should not be much difference. Actually this doesn't really hold since if you retrieveing a high level value and then changing the data in the cube then the high level va...

Blimey! Whats worked for me instead of looping through subsets looking for a particular set of elelements is to set up MDX subsets based on a particular set of conditions that I'm looking for. If I can't get to the exact element I need then I can least produce a much shorter subset to loop through. ...

Re: About conditional feeders...

Rodrigo, It's difficult to give general advice on conditional feeders. They need to be considered on a case by case basis. It's possible to make the performance of your system worse using conditional feeders, especially if you have re-evaluate conditional feeder flag on. Perhaps if you post your rul...

Re: Automatic security

Also just to be really anal about the if test in the security rules. You don't need it at all since you can't override the security permissions of the admin user group. :ugeek: That said it would be interesting to understand how TM1 works once the rule is compiled... Is there any difference between ...

Re: DBS/DBSW

Another good tip here is to add some VBA to the close / deactivate events of the work book that set the load flag to false. This avoids data being sent when the workbook is first opened and calculation is set to automatic.

Sorry for posting on old posts, my first time on for a while..
