Re: Why IBM should sell off TM1 by James Wakefield

I wonder if he remembers - I don't (but I'm entitled not to  ) I hope that's not an ageist slur upon yourself there David! After all, {mumble} is the new 20. Just look at the new Top Gun movie. A guy in his late 50's is still supposedly flying front line fighter missions as if almost 4 decad...

Re: Why IBM should sell off TM1 by James Wakefield

Hi Gurus, I know I am opening a pandora's box out here, but being a passionate TM1 lovers, how much do you agree with James on the below: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-ibm-should-sell-off-tm1-james-wakefield/ Thanks I think that it's a really interesting piece of writing. Thanks for bringing i...

Communal activity - nominate your favourite FAQ

The once-mighty FAQ thread is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Dust, cobwebs, and references to sub-versions of version 8 can be found everywhere. At present it looks like a deceased estate. Rather than just rely on what I think should be in there, here's an opportunity for everyone to nominate...

Re: RAM Usage much larger than Cubes

Hi Mark Have you recently upgraded to PA? If so, it is probably due to MUNs. From memory the topic that I raised on this was called something like Planning Analytics using twice the memory. Do a search and you should find it. It can be found here , in fact. I've also added it to Miss Havisham's fav...

Re: Bedrock 4 for IBM Planning Analytics is available

Personally, I don't think I'll be jumping into the Bedrock 4 pool all that soon. I have it on all of my servers, but this morning was my first encounter with using it. It was not auspicious. It was a call to }bedrock.cube.viewandsubsets.create, with pLogOutput set to 1. Yeah, all good, hunky dory, n...

Re: Updating Element Attributes in TI Process

I know I'm very late to the party on this, but today is the first time I'd had cause to use this function. It appears that if you feed an MDX expression into the third argument to update the subset: SubsetMDXSet(dimension, subsetname, [MDX_expression]); Then the function just leaves it as a dynamic ...

Re: PAW Guide

Hi everyone! Does anybody have any kind of Guide or Manual for Planning Analytics Workspace? Basically to know what you can do or what can you show with it once you have the Views on Architect. I have watched the videos from the IBM YouTube channel and their Web Knowledge Center, but if you have an...

Re: TM1 Web 2.0.6 - Bogus Timeouts

We just upgraded our system to PA 2.0.6 over the weekend and a couple of users (well, me so far but I'm expecting more as they get to the office today) hit this one. Ops Console was fine by the way. The password change trick didn't work for me (either via Perspectives or Web). But what does seem to...

Re: Fix Pack Releases: 10.2 Series

I've just added a link to 10.2.2 FP7 Interim Fix 22.

One of the things it addresses is a security flash that IBM released last week, the details of which will be found here.

There's nothing mentioned about this affecting PA2 installations.

Re: Day of Week in TI

I'm aware that I need to update ye olde Using Dates And Times thread with that as well, but I need to update it with a number of things. Right at the moment I'm testing out issues relating to the new Excel Dates server config parameter and plan to whack the whole thing with a complete overhaul.

Re: TI views using alternate hierarchies

BTW the next PA " Ask me Anything " session is TODAY. It is worth joining It's around 1am my time. I think that works better for me and better for them because the only thing I would want to "A" in an AMA is "When are you at IBM going to get your collective head out of your backside and start provi...

The TM1 Top utility is scheduled for deprecation.

Microsoft has finally done something right (Excel)

Rather than peeing people off by doing things like: Pulling the Recent Folders list in File Open (which admittedly they grudgingly restored after seemingly endless waves of customer protests); Introducing the work-destroying and ineptly programmed abomination that is Autosave for OneDrive*; The Ribb...

Re: TI - Add new element in alphabetical order under consolidation

That said, I would not necessarily recommend using people's names as principal element names. If someone changes their name (as some newly married women have an annoying (from a system point of view) habit of doing), you'll need to export all of the data relating to that element and create a new on...

Re: TI - Add new element in alphabetical order under consolidation

Sheesh this ran a little off topic. To be fair my original reply was just the first line pointing to the DimensionSortOrder function. Then I foresaw the impending pain that will inevitably come from using a description as a principal name, thought better of it, and added the suggestion that the ori...

Re: TI - Add new element in alphabetical order under consolidation

Normally you would use an artificial key for this; something like an employee ID code from the HR module. You can use the name as an alias. You can then use MDX to create sorted subsets which put the elements into the order that you want. True. But start using consolidations to collapse and expand ...

Re: TI - Add new element in alphabetical order under consolidation

I'm a pretty new user of TM1 (using version 10.2.4) I have a dimension that is list of employee names with a single consolidation called "All Employee Names". The dimension looks some this like this: All Employee Names adam-jones brett-smith david-collins Each time a new employee name is added to t...

This is of course ridiculously cumbersome if you have a long list of cubes and the one that has the view is right down the bottom. Re: Cube Views

I was able to create a folder under applications. Now I would like to copy a view under the new folder so that it can be shared by mulitple users. The relevant documentation is here . That's 10.2.2, but the principles are the same. In short, you drag the view from under the cube and into the folder...
