Re: calculating WTD, YTD and QTD with rules

Here's your simple answer. Don't. Time period calculations should almost always be done with a hierarchy in the Time dimension and letting the consolidation feature in TM1 take care of it. It will perform light years faster than a rule and you won't have to worry about feeders. I second that. And I...

Re: Planning Analytics

I am looking for documentation which explains the differences and advantages of Planning Analytics vs. TM1. Want to understand how it is used for reporting and what the interface looks like and functions vs. TM1. Thank you. The short answer is Planning Analytics is TM1 . It's basically a re-brandin...

Re: Websheet connected to wrong server

This is normal or expected behaviour . If the different instances share the same - admin host - authentication method - username - password ... then for each TM1User function TM1Web will attempt to log in with the same credentials as the "primary" instance (that the user logged in from). Where multi...

Re: Cube Drill - PAX - bug (And workaround)

Hello All, We have been doing some work on Cube Drills in PAX and have noticed the following bug : If you have a cube drill and only have a row defined in the cube view it will return the right view but will be blank. To get a drill through to work in PAX you need to have at least 1 dimension defin...

Re: Rest API behaviour

You are using Execute which is now a depreciated function. Most of us would say there's a "bug" with Execute as it breaks with backward compatibility as any error results in rollback and no data being committed . When executing the same process via C API only major error results in rollback, minor e...

Re: Storing a user session details in tm1

If you want to track a user's filter dimension selections independently of navigating then the best way to do it is to replace the SUBNMs with DBR and have a cube with: }Clients }Dimensions Measure The cube can also have picklists to facilitate data entry to make it more convenient for users to sele...

Re: GL application and Alternate Hierachies

I'm a little intrigued. By "I have multiple clients with different calendar start and end" are you suggesting to hold multiple customers' GL data in a single multi-tenant environment? Customers with different financial years? If yes I have to say I find such a scenario highly unlikely (to say the le...

Re: TM1 Rest api - MDX query for zero suppression

I do understand it and it’s something I would like to do as well but in the Cube viewer. It’s the set of elements within the rows (and columns) dimension(s) that survive the zero suppression operation, and only those elements. It’s so terribly inefficient to snapshot to Excel and copy-paste back th...

Re: TM1 Dimensions

... the usual practice is to export the data, backup rules, views, security, ..., destroy the cube, recreate with an additional dimension, and add the earlier items all back in. It’s not a trivial task in most cases. Unless you have bedrock version 4. In which case it is actually a trivial task. (a...

Re: LEN works in Architect, not PAW

But don't forget that member properties are explicitly strings and TM1's MDX implementation doesn't allow type recasting. So if you want to treat the value as numeric then you need to query the ElementAttributes cube not get the member property.

Re: Does anyone know how to run 2 PAW instances on same server?

Out of curiosity. Why would you want to? Well load balancing ... Horizontal scaling is a key advantage of containerization. And the containerization of Docker is the whole point of IBM going this route. It does seem a bit remiss that (at this point) there isn't any documentation from IBM on how to ...

Hi Lotsaram I am probably too stupid to realise that it couldn't be done and just went ahead and did it since it seemed like a logical thing to be able to do. Anyway, I suggest you try an experiment yourself to confirm it. Regards Paul Buried away (not in the release notes, mind you but buried in t...

I think you might be getting mixed up with ItemReject. AFAIK LogOutput should not cause any minor error status (in fact would be pretty bad if it did).

Re: REST API: consolidated elements without children

@Wim I'm kinda surprised that the first query works! {Filter( TM1FilterByLevel( TM1SubsetAll([test]), 1), ISLEAF( [test].CurrentMember ))} That I think would have to be a bug in the MDX engine or interpretation of what a "leaf" is (that is a numeric element). A consolidation without children can't s...

Re: REST API: consolidated elements without children

Pretty sure this would return the same.

Code: Select all

FILTER(TM1FILTERBYLEVEL( TM1SUBSETALL( [test2]), 1), TM1TUPLESIZE( ([test2].currentmember.children).ITEM(0)) = 0)
Childless consolidations still evaluate as level 1 and not level 0.

Re: PA and TM1RUNTI separately from installation

When you say "separate from installation" I assume you mean you have moved the tm1runti.exe to a different folder. Is this correct? Possibly in v11 there is a new dll dependency which you haven't copied across?
Have you tried using dependency walker to check if you have all the required dlls?

Re: Manage Rights when a big chunk of elements are deleted

It takes about an hour for SecurityRefresh normally. On PA 2.0.4 and 2.0.6, it takes about 1.5 hours. Oh my! I have worked on some pretty huge models (and talking security not just data; thousands of users, thousands of groups) but I have never seen SecurityRefresh take longer than about 5 - 10 min...

Re: Is there a way to get the Data Directory Location in TI?

On a related note: does anyone use multiple data directories for 1 model ? We can specify multiple folders in the crg file but I have never been a fan of it. I don't often use it but I actually think it's a good idea for things like frameworks or modules that are common to multiple TM1 models. It m...
