Re: TM1 Career
No-one else game? Probably about the only TM1 question I can answer any more... I haven't been much involved in TM1 for about five years - which actually probably gives me a bit of perspective on your questions. I can't really answer your specific questions with equal specificity as so much depends ...

Thanks for the plug! I didn't cover budgeting and forecasting in there - maybe I should start collecting ideas for a follow up...

Re: Email has been disabled
I've made a few changes and re-enabled the email. I haven't yet started asking the blacklisting sites to unblacklist the forum IP so if your email hoster is blocking it then that will continue. After a day or two I'll check if the changes are having the desired effect and if so I'll ask them to deli...

Email has been disabled
I have disabled the email as I seem to have a spam infection and the IP address is beginning to get blacklisted.
I'll update as I make progress with hardening up the postfix install.

Re: Upcoming server migration
I've got the body of the email working now, but it currently will still only send you an email once and then won't send you another until you've visited the forum. Fixing that is next on the to-do list.

Re: Upcoming server migration
Just an update to say that I haven't forgotten about fixing the email notifications to do what they used to do. I've just been very short of time in the evenings of late. No end in sight to that at this stage, but it's on my radar to finish this job.

Re: Upcoming server migration
Thanks for the thanks - it's usually quite fun messing about in Ubuntu, it's a nice change of scenery from data. Annoying when a snag like this comes up though. I am receiving emails but it looks like there is a setting to be tweaked as I receive: Yep, this is the default email approach. Unfortunate...

Re: Upcoming server migration
Progress! You were right Jim, it was a port issue. Turns out the VM provider was blocking 25. I've got it opened up and can now send emails from the server. It's still not quite configured right for the forum. You might get some emails, but they'll be the useless ones telling you there's a new post,...

Re: Upcoming server migration
I just had another crack at the emails, but I keep coming up against brick walls. I won't be able to get to it tomorrow either so hopefully will get to it over the weekend.

Re: Upcoming server migration
Seems to have gone successfully this time. Welcome to the new digs. This server is now based in the States, Seattle I think, so might be a bit faster for the top half of the world(?) I've also upgraded the forum version hence the slightly update skin. Let me know if you spot anything funny. I've sti...

Upcoming server migration
Just to let you know that I'll be moving the forum to a new server in the next few weeks. Not quite sure when, depends on availability. I'll post on the forum Twitter and Facebook accounts before I start so if you find the forum's disappeared check there if that's the reason. I'm hoping to do it in ...

Re: TM1 Consultant - transition from permanent job to enterpreneur
I once tried to turn myself into a "proper" consultancy but found it ended up working more as a bunch of serial contracts, some occasionally running in parallel. Moving to contract might be a good interim step. This might be what you mean, so I'll explain a bit where I see the difference between con...

Re: Request for help in a Quixotic quest against a useless Microsoft dialog
That's a good site. It's better than the incumbents like Rosetta Stone and Babbel at dealing with the challenges of rough - rather than exact - translation. Also seems to have a decent Dutch capability, which is really hard to find. Hartelijk bedankt!
