Re: Going to the IBM Cloud

I want to recommend everyone to order 1-2 instances called temp, test or whatever and have turn them off as soon as you get access to the system. Its just very convenient to have them around. Also note that the cloud team will upgrade the Workspace part of your environment at their own discretion. I...

Re: Devops in PA/TM1

Devops is not about tools. Devops is about processes.

Part of my development process is looking in log files. I use notepad++ for that.

Re: Licensing for PAW

With that said... we also bought the PAW add-ons for every user. OUR license agreement was that only the data server was PVU based. So we put PAW on a separate server. We also put Cognos Analytics, TM1web etc on a separate server. This way all the PVU performance could go to the data-server. And we ...

Then I guess you would be mistaken because I can assure you that this is not happening, and moreover is not something that is likelly to either.
Very quick to deny this are we not... ;)

Thanks for your thoughts and insights.

Re: What's coming up in the TM1 Server?

Sounds interesting. Personally I think they should find something that actually CAN replace the TI part. Otherwise we will have three different "languages". But I always tend to think about things like Canvas and all these other things beeing developed on top of the api. As much as I love it. I alwa...

Re: How to make system appear "offline" - TM1Web login unavailable

If you dont need TM1Web/Applicaiton Web to check your admin changes. It would be a possibility to just stop those services. Another solution I have used once was to close the firewall on the web-server so noone could access it. This way I could use the system since I was on the server. But noone els...

Re: What's coming up in the TM1 Server?

Thx for sharing!

I'm very curious to hear more about that "scripting language" in the coming years. In a way I hope that its not a new language but just regular javascript or python or something.

Live editing should be doable via rest. But Im afraid I dont have the skills to make it happen.

But as far as I understood it thats how the TM1 add-in for sublime does it.

So the MDX Views are not the magic I was hoping for to force my TI process to loop through the source in a way I want it to then. Thanks for the clarification.

I wish I could say I didn't. Maybe I read too much into it and that it doesn't matter at all, but that you want a predictable order of your variables.

Re: Dimension Order in an MDX cube view as datasource

Hi, I haven't started with the MDX views yet as my MDX-skils are pretty crappy (Any tips on resources?). But does an MDX cube view differ in a "normal" cube view when used as a data source when it comes to dimension orders? Exporting using a "normal" cube view uses the cube dimension order. Is this ...

Re: Why IBM should sell off TM1 by James Wakefield

Interesting read. But it really needs to be read as a text written by someone that worked with TM1, and now work with one of its main competitors, Anaplan. So as much as it is interesting, its aim is to deem TM1/PA as an inferior system. Now I haven't worked with Anaplan for a few years. But as far ...

Re: TM1 service holding open ODBC?

Try to add some validations and other checks that also triggers a close. Otherwise you risk having the connection stay open because of an error.

Or if you know that the DBAs are running backups at night. Add a process with ODBC close in your own nightly backup routine.

Re: Day of Week in TI

Are you an admin person of that TM1 model, or what is your role with respect to TM1 ? Yes I'm an admin/developer. I was working on some sort of "ultimate period/time dimension creator". But to calculate some things I needed to know where the tm1s.cfg file was located. Since I need to know if the mo...
