I just noticed that the following was added to the Oxford Dictionary this month:
OED wrote:cruft
New words: February 2013
Pronunciation: /krʌft/

Definition of cruft
noun
[mass noun] Computing, informal


badly designed, unnecessarily complicated, or unwanted code or software:
this removes all unnecessary cruft from Word documents saved as HTML

Origin:
1950s (in the sense 'rubbish, detritus'): origin unknown
Been there, done that, T-Shirt acquisition effected, etc.

I like that - I've always used "guff" but this sounds more professional.

I will start using this henceforth.
