10.1 Application Web - what client it is?

Post by karkea »

Hi all,

I'm a bit confused. In TM1 10.1 rcp_installs folder under pmspvc contains only insight and performance modeller msi packages. So does anyone know what TM1 10.1 Application Web as a software actually is? Is it the same Contributor client as with 9.5.2 or something based on Insight?

Regards,

It is a web-based client for TM1 and is used for planning.

Read this for details: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocente ... /index.jsp

If it wasn't already clear from my question, I'm looking for a more precise answer. The documentation doesn't describe in detail what the Application Web client is. Previously it was separate Contributor client, but now in 10.1 the situation is a bit unclear.

It's clear that one can use following clients with TM1:
- TM1 Web
- TM1 Application Web (this is the unclear part)
- Cognos Insight (in various modes - distributed, ect.)
- Perspectives

You can consider that for all practical intents and purposes TM1 Application Web is a 1:1 replacement (or renaming) of TM1 Contributor. Just a Contributor that also supports:
1/ Websheets as application tabs not just cube views
2/ Cognos Insight in connected mode as a thick contribution client and not just the Contributor web client
(although irritatingly and I'm sure confusingly for some if the application contains websheets then you can't open it with Cognos Insight, only one with cube views only)
