View not visible after load server

Post by Maxime »

Hello everyone!

On my server TM1 10.2.2, I currently have a problem after instance startup.

On some cube, no view are present.
On the other, all views have been loaded.

When I look in the data folder, I see always the folder views...

Someone there you an idea of the source of this problem ?

The instance restart hasn't solved the problem.

Thank you in advance !

Are the views in question are private views,Because even admin can view private view.Have you check .vue file with for the view in the directory.

Any error messages in the tm1server.log file?

Are the actual .vue files present in the data directory for the missing views?

I don't have error in the tm1server.log when the server start.
I have error when a user tries to open one of these views in the workflow.

The files .vue are present in the folder.

Yesterday I created a view of a cube where those views are not loaded.
The file has been created in the folder containing the views of cubes.
And when the server restarts tonight, the new view was not loaded.

it's always the same four cubes where the views are not loaded.

Thank you for your reply !

Edit :
I use a "MaximumCubeLoadThreads=31" because i have 32 cores on my server.
On dev server i don't have this problem with a "MaximumCubeLoadThreads=3".
This can it be a source of error?

I test for the next server re start, to change value of MaximumCubeLoadThreads from 31 to 1 because is the only difference in my tm1s.cfg with dev server.

if you have any idea due to this problem or test to be performed don't hesitate.

Just a thought - do the 4 cubes share a dimension? May be that you are missing a common subset from one of the dimensions that is used in the views. Worth a quick check of the .sub files maybe.
Yesterday I created a view of a cube where those views are not loaded.
The file has been created in the folder containing the views of cubes.
And when the server restarts tonight, the new view was not loaded.
That wouldn't explain this behaviour though.

I don't have missing subset, because when i look the missing view on dev server, i can re build the same view on prod server without create new element or subset or other.

A long shot but do the views in question have any special characters in their names?

If you can reproduce this at will, you should file a ticket with IBM support. It's clearly a bug if your losing views.

You could try enabling some additional logging
log4j.logger.TM1.View=DEBUG
log4j.logger.TM1.Registration=DEBUG

The view logger outputs whatever info IBM development deemed useful about views. Maybe there's some hint there.
The registration logger should have information about private vs public scope, so it's also possible there might be a hint there.

Ideally, you have logging enabled before creating the view right through a restart and verifying the view no longer exists.

If you really want, you could try attaching the .vue file, but I have no idea if anyone on this board has reverse engineered the file format enough to check if it's corrupted.

Hi,
We're experiencing a similar issue. 10.2.2. FP2.
Public views not visible in SE
Public views not accessible to TIs
Private views are visible in SE
Public views restored on re-start up
We've not established what causes the views to be dropped from the instance.
We'll probably move to FP4 but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has raised a PMR?

Hi,

we had this issue on 10.2.2 FP2, but it was not reproducible. So our lab advocate said that they "probably" fix it in FP3 and he "probably" right.

We're having the same issue and have opened a PMR with IBM. We're on 10.2.2 FP3, so no... FP3 did not fix it.

This issue now has an APAR
- TITLE: PI50558: VIEW FILES DISAPPEAR FROM THE TM1 SERVER'S MEMORY.
- URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss? ... SS9RXT-_-E
- ABSTRACT: The view files are still on disk so with a restart of the Tm1 server they come back.

Seems to be a critical defect, most instances won't work very well if all the public views drop....

Resurrecting this one as we seem to have the same issue as the OP.

There was a power failure and the server went down at 18 seconds past midnight (in a data center!)
Log file was corrupt and one or two other issues - }Groups attributes cube corrupt and another cube, both restored from earlier backup.

Managed to get server back online but many cubes have lost their views.
-Cubes are fine and new views can be created.
-Old .vue files are present on disk.
-Subsets/Elements referenced in the .vue file are present and can be used to create new views.

As this is a Production environment, we cannot restart until we are given a time slot.

My questions are basically:
1-Did anyone find the cause for this?
2-Did a restart always work?
3-If the restart did not work, what did you need to do to get back the views?

Please let me know if you have any answers on the above.

p.s. The views were not there and then disappeared during operation - they were missing immediately after restarting. Submission deadlines meant we could not stop again and try and deal with the issue then.
Running on TM1 10.2.2. FP4.

Hello, Maxime!

If I understand correctly, you have the following situation:
- views are in the folder DATA;
- views consist only of existing subsets and contain existing elements that are displayed at the opening;
- views were previously published and were accessed;
- everything works on the dev, but on another server it doesn`t work.

There is an assumption that the entire path to the views (including the name of the view) on another server is very long, as opposed to the dev. Try, for example, create a view with a shorter name and try to open view again after restart.

Also you wrote about the error, which appears after the user attempts to open the view. Please, send a screenshot.
