Adding element to existing dimension

Hey all,

I need to add a new element to an existing dimension in use by at least one cube in a very large, very complicated model. I tried manually inserting the element into the dimension, but for some reason it only shows up in the dimension list if I click "Edit Dimension Structure", not when I open the default view. Creating a new subset doesn't seem to work either. The new element also does not appear in the cube I am trying to edit. DimensionElementInsert isn't working for me in TI, but that is probably because it is interfering with some other process, and I am not familiar enough with the model yet to modify anything, although it may have to come to that.

If someone could just walk me through a step-by-step process to manually add an element to a dimension so that it appears in a cube, that would be great and I would be eternally greatful!

- Make sure you have saved after adding element in Dimension editor

- Subset editor, select all?

I made sure it was saved.

When I go into subset editor, the element I need doesn't appear. For the element to appear, I need to be in "Edit Dimension Structure". There, I can "select all" and overwrite the dimension, but the element I need still doesn't appear in any view that isn't "Edit Dimension Structure"....

How big is the dimension? If it's big have you tried searching for it by name after pressing the all button? Have you tried doing a dimension save as to see if it appears in the newly saved dimension?

There's about 60 dimensions appearing when I go to Edit Dimension Structure, with about 30 appearing in the default view. When I attempt to create a new subset, only the 30 that appear in the default view are available. It does not appear after clicking All and searching by name. It just doesn't appear at all period unless I'm in Edit Dimension Structure.

Another frequent error type (I am sure that not in this case though!) is the One Delta Ten Tango variety.

Had to google both of those but I like them!

However, I think the current TM1 icon for "All" in the subset editor is very poor and difficult to see. One of my many gripes about "Subset Editor" (actually selector and sorter) which I am hoping will be addressed in future.

My personal favourite is "warm ware error". I hadn't come across one delta ten tango before, must remember that one.
