Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
Hi all,
To confirm the inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting:
When - Thursday 31st May 2012
Time - 6.00pm ish
Where - The Anchor Bankside http://www.taylor-walker.co.uk/pub-food ... /pid-P0977
What - Decide on the format for the user group, drink some beer, decide on a TLA (TUG, MUG or 1UG?), drink some more beer, compare models, plus prize for best iPAD application using TM1
It'd be useful if people aiming to come along could let me know, to get a rough idea on numbers.
Regards

Hi Paul,
I won't be able to make it on this occasion. I'd be interested in getting along to future events though.
Cheers,
Alex

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
Paul,
unfortunately wont be able to make this one as am stuck in the North. If it wasnt friday morning, I might have started a Rant on the good old North/South divide!!!! Am sure there will be other northerners willing to take this up.
Anyway, I am sure some recruitment agencies might be reading this post to try and get on the 'Inside', I propose that a mechanism is put in place for all attendees before they can take a seat at the table at the meeting. Maybe a series of questions that only TM1'ers would know such as
Q: Whats the shortcut to copy and paste code in a Ti
A: Do it twice!!!
I am sure theres quite a lot of them in order to generate random ones for eacg attendee!!!
How about that for an ipad App - Are you really a TM1'er?

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
Hi Paul,
I will be attending and I will bring a couple of TM1 books I've bought recently for people to have a look at.
I think it's a great idea to set the first session as an open house to discuss what we would want to achieve as a User Group.
I think we'd weed out the recruitment consultants pretty quickly and I wouldn't want to make it an elitist group as I'd never get in with my android tablet

I'm planning to be there as well and will likely bring a few guys from the general Canary Wharf area with me.
Paul, thanks for making this happen.

Looks like a terrible place and I bet the beer is like gnats pee. I bet it will be the worst the get together ever. You'll eat lots of top nosh, get perfectly merry and have a great time. I'm not jealous in any way!!
On a more serious note I hope it goes well, enjoy yourselves and report back any major info and who won the iPad prize,
Jim.
PS. Stay away from London Pride, it's expensive dish water!!

Well....we had to drink London Pride since the bar that served the other bitters had a 10 minute queue......I'm not entirely sure what else happened......

We saw a Windows 3.1 style Applix User Manual and pondered a simpler time?!

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
I'm pretty sure you volunteered to host and present at the next meeting, Steve but then I was drinking lager....Steve Rowe wrote:Well....we had to drink London Pride since the bar that served the other bitters had a 10 minute queue......I'm not entirely sure what else happened......
I think we did manage to sort out a few things:
* The User Group should meet every three months.
* Three meetings should be on the same sort of basis as last night, but start a bit earlier - say 5.00pm, with a presentation or talk, and then move to the pub.
* The fourth meeting should be an all day event. Format and date to be decided.
* The User Group should be non-commercial and open to all TM1 developers and users.
Add three months for the next meeting makes the end of August, but that's holidays, so how about the Thursday of the last week in September, so 27th September? I did hear an offer from the HSBC guys to host, is that possible?
We didn't get very far on a name, so any suggestions welcomed.
I certainly had a good (and informative time), and it's nice to put names to faces. The turnout was around 12, which isn't too bad for a first meeting. Thanks all who showed up.
Stephen Waters wins the ipad TM1 app prize in that he actually had an ipad about his person. I'll buy you the pint when I next see you, Stephen

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
Guys,
So we've obviously missed the target date of 27 Sep. However, I would like to revive the idea as I think the inaugural meeting was quite good, actually. Is anyone out there that agrees with me on this and wants to keep meeting?
I'm not in a position to organise a presentation venue anymore, as I have left HSBC, but maybe one of the guys still working there can try and get a room to use after hours? And then we could head for drinks to one of the many pubs in CW. E.g. Davy's turned out to be quite good for my leaving drinks and their Old Wallop ale gathered some positive reviews.
Edit: typos.

Yes, sorry, life and a year-end have got my attention. I'm still up for this, Volunteers to do a demo/talk when we find a venue?

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
Way to go, Paul, now you scared them all away!
I personally think it would be good to discuss version 10.1, so it would be great if someone has any practical project experience with this and could share their Insight (pun intended).

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
We will be 'proof of concepting' a changeover from 9.0 SP3 to 10.1.1 in the coming weeks, however, we are migrating on a like for like basis before investigating additional functionality.
I also think the meeting was good and would like them to continue particularly if we have some form of active discussion on TM1!
Does anyone have suitable office space available to host or should we investigate hiring a meeting room in a convenient location?

Re: Inaugural UK TM1 User Group meeting
I'll be in London (boo hiss) on the Thurs 25th Oct and could have my arm twisted to get drunk with fellow TM1'ers on the offchance that's the date you plump for. Would struggle to get away during office hours though as presenting for much of the day.
And btw, wouldn't recommend TUG as the TLA. I set up a TUG when I was at BAE which was a constant source of amusement that reduced the impact of the group. Probably cause there was generally 10 men and 1 woman at each TUG
