Running out of disk space

Post by guntupalli »

Hi ,

We are running out of disk space on our server (C: 5Gb free space)

recenlty we delpoyed tm1 components from dev to qa and loaded with current data , then service crashed ,
we took the backup of TM1Server.log and TM1s.Log files and restarted the services.
when we are trying to open cube views ,disk space came to 0 Gb then rebooted the server and checked in the server c:\Windows\PCHealth\ErrorRep\UserDumps

" tm1sd.exe.20120801-182508-00.hdmp" files are created, these files are keep on occupying the space on the C disk runs out of space even cube view closed.

Event log also throwing the errors " faulting application tm1sd.exe version 9.5.20000.faulting module tm1sd.exe version 9.5.20000.faulting address tm1sd.exe version 9.5.20000.

we tried to load the data in dev ,everything is good.

can anyone help to resolve the issue?
1.why the service is crashing after the load the data into cube ?
2.Is there any way we can restrict this dump file generation ?

Thanks & Regards

A few things to consider. The dump is being triggered by the crash. Also why do you have TM1 and the data set on the same drive as your os???? Lastly I think you need to look at why the service is crashing. Is it running out of RAM? Did you migrate all components correctly???

Thanks for reply Jim.

migrated all components correctly , OS is on C drive and TM11 on D drive.

we load the data with " Master Update " TI Process , is this causing the crash?

still " tm1sd.exe.20120801-182508-00.hdmp" files are generating in c:\Windows\PCHealth\ErrorRep\UserDumps.

First of all you have told us ANYTHING about your situation, like model size, 32-bit or 64-bit, etc... With little to no information the only thing I can offer is that 5GB is most definitely inadequate. At a minimum you have to have a Windows swap file equal to the amount of RAM in the box. If you are crashing then there probably isn't enough disk space for the swap file.

@guntupalli, it does look like your swap file is on the C drive and 5GB is simply not enough for it to acommodate your TM1 model's needs. Start by moving the swap file to a drive with more available space or free up some on the C drive.

Having said that, @tomok is right, you're not really telling us the important bits, so it might be something different as well.

Following are the other details.

Available space in C drive : 67GB (After deleting .hdump file now free C disk free space is 23 GB)
Available space in D drive : 33GB
TM1 installed in D drive.
Data Directory kept in D drive.
OS : 2003 R2 in C drive , 64-bit
TM1 version : 9.5.2, FP01.
RAM: 16 GB
Virtual Memory : 25 GB, pointing to C drive.

still " tm1sd.exe.20120801-182508-00.hdmp" files are generating in c:\Windows\PCHealth\ErrorRep\UserDumps.

why TM1 is causing by generating so many dump files? Is there any way we can restrict this dump file generation from the application side?
