Issues with TM1 Refreshing

Post by Suzanne »

Hi - We are in the process of testing TM1 v. 9.5.2 FP1 over Terminal Services using Excel 2010 and Windows 2008 R2 SP1 . We are seeing an intermittent issue where when opening an Excel report in TM1, the screen will not completely refresh. Or - after slicing out of TM1 into Excel, there seems to be a lag when moving from one cell to another.
Any thoughts as to what may be causing this and/or how to fix it?

Thank you!

Make sure you turn off auto-recalc in Excel.

When using Excel 2007 or 2010 depending on network there can be a noticeable lag when changing the active cell selection as the state of all the ribbon buttons changes depending on context of the cell. This issue is noticeably worse when using Citrix or Terminal Services. If any other ribbon other than the TM1 ribbon is active then you won't see this lag. Golden rule; only have the TM1 ribbon active when you need to use it. This issue is worse in 2007 as there are no ribbon dropdown sections as implemented in 2010 but the issue is still there.

Over Citrix and TS we generally delete the tm1pRibbonX.xlam which means TM1 functions are accessible through the old school add-ins ribbon where this issue doesn't present.

Thank you both for your responses.

I will double check auto recalc.

As for the ribbon - we automatically delete the ribbon (in both Citrix and TS) - it's been so much trouble for us. We have never seen a lag or refresh issue with Citrix...only with TS.

And I did double check the auto recalc - it is off. So it appears it is neither of those issues.

Thanks again!
