TM1web 9.5.2 FP1 + IE9

Post by Stéphane »

Hello,

We're using TM1web 9.5.2 FP1 and we're asked to qualify this version with IE9.

I know that those 2 are not officialy supported but I hoped it would run anyway. Everything seams to work except when there is any kind of graph in the report (crash error 'IE9 ceases to run'). I'm trying compatibily things, etc... but can't work it out yet.

Has anyone some kind of experience with this 2 ?

My company wants to go to Windows 7 + IE9 as standard but I'm not too hurry to go to TM1 10+.

Thanks,

Stéphane

I encountered the same issue during IE9 validation testing and subsequently TM1Web failed to qualify to be certified internally for IE9 (anyone listening in IBM land?)

Same symptoms as you describe with both 9.5.1 and 9.5.2 TM1 Web (running on both Win 2003 and Win 2008 servers) on both XP and Win7 clients for IE9. Any websheet containing a chart initially renders OK but on any subsequent change of SUBNM title element and sheet refresh results in instant crash of the IE9 client (with web client stable in IE8, FF and Chrome).

At the time I wasn't able to report this as a bug due to a licensing dispute but if anyone has an APAR or a fix date for this issue I would be more than a little interested.

Just got caught by this. My new pc came with IE9 and my standard ver 9.5.2 demos, (which include web sheets with graphs) don't display properly and cause IE to fail.

I have installed Firefox 3.6 which is officially supported. This used to work for me no problem on my old PC; it is not crashing but the graphs are still not displaying correctly.

I am thinking of uninstalling IE 9 and installing IE 8. Has anyone tried this and, if so, has it worked?

B****l^$%ks' .... Just tried installing IE 8 and found that, according to Microsoft, "it is not supported by your operating system".

Have you tried Chrome? I switched a couple of years ago and have never looked back. Sooo much better and faster than IE. I've never had any issues with TM1Web.

Hello there,

Doing lot of tests, can't work it out with IE9.

Chrome may be an option but as Windows 7 + IE9 is to be the standard of my company, I can't decide by myself to put Chrome in the business.

IE9 appears to unstable with other applications too, have even been shown some MSDN site content by a developer that made it crash. Have stuck with IE8 for now with TM1 v9.5.2.1

Update, You "install" IE 8 by uninstalling the IE 9 upgrade which comes as part of Windows updates. This stopped me getting error message but graphs still not showing correctly.

Tomok for info; Chrome ( my prefered browser) and Firefox 11 has same problem so will need to do more digging.

BUT........ preparing a demo this morning I had same problem with IE erroring. Caused because MS automatic updates had re-upgraded me to IE9!! Thank you very much b@":**y Microsoft.

It would be boring if everything worked first time.....especially for a demo!

Are you telling you got graph issues with Chrome and tm1web ? Could you be more specific ? I didn't notice anything wrong with tm1web 9.5.2FP1 and Chrome.

By the way anyone got some feedback with standard tm1 9.5.2FP1 and Windows 7 ? (it is officially supported so it *should* work).

The main graph problem was the legend box appearing black and, on testing, this affected all browsers, Chrome, Firefox and IE 8. This was because the colour setting for the Legend in Excel was set to automatic (the default); changing it to white worked! We have found this can affect graph titles as well so, if you start getting black boxes on your graphs, change the colour settings from automatic.

I have used this demo for many years with Excel 2003, I think the problem was caused by a move to Excel 2010 ( and possibly 2007 affects 2007 as well).

Anthony, during demos I think I can live with a boring life! Hope things are well.
