3GB switch and Windows 2000 Terminal

We are running TM1 on Windows 2000 terminal and are hitting the 2GB limit. The 3GB switch is not officially supported (details here) by MSoft. My understanding is that the 3GB switch still works on the other versions of the OS.

Can anyone confirm that the 3GB switch works on Windows 2000 Terminal (5.00.2195 Service pack 4, if that helps!)?

I know the switch can be done for Windows 2000 & 2003

On Windows 2000 the /3GB switch is only supported on the Advanced Server and Datacenter Server.

Mike, I know that the switch is not supported for my version of the OS, my belief was that it still worked in other versions of the OS it just isn't "supported".

The link you provide does seem to explicitly state that this isn't the case though which is different to what my understanding has been previously.

Eric I know how to apply the switch (it's shown in the link in my first post) do you know which version of Windows 2000 you have applied it too previously?

Hi Steve,

The other Mike is right. The 3GB switch doesn't do anything in Windows 2000 Standard edition, unfortunately:

On other versions of Windows NT and Windows 2000, this feature restricts the kernel to addresses above the 3 GB boundary. However, user-mode applications cannot access more than 2 GB of address space.

There are a number of boot settings like this that can be used in OS versions where the setting isn't fully supported (for driver testing and debugging purposes), but you don't get much with this particular one in Windows 2000 Standard Ed.

Just to follow up I can confirm that the switch does not work in the OS I mention.
