TM1 array of subset error
I'm having troubles with views in a cube.
I shutdown the TM1 server.. and then restart it and open the cube. When I want to see a view (default or not) I get the error: "cannot find arrays of subset which define the view".
On the IBM site - the solution was to delete and recreate view for the user that had this corrupt file. But I still have the error
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
This is the error message you get when a view contains an invalid subset of one or more dimensions. What usually has happened is you have a view that uses one or more subsets and one of those subsets has become invalid because you deleted an element in the subset OR you hand picked elements in the view (instead of using a subset) and one of those elements got deleted. If this is only happening for a single user it could be because they don't have security rights to see part of the view.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
I have not touched any elements in the dimensions
Even if I handpick elements.. or I use a subset for every dimension.. I still get the error.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
You get the error or the user get's the error? What about security on the dimensions in the cube? Are any of them restricted and if so, does the user have the proper access to all the elements in the view?lavinutza007 wrote:I still get the error.

There's only one user: admin.
And no security has been set up.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
If there is a default view for the cube in question, delete it and then stop/restart the TM1 server service.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
In the meantime.. I've recreated the whole cube from scratch.. dimensions and processes.
For some reason, there's no error now.
Thanks.

Am facing the same problem in my application
When i searched in the forum , i found this but the difference is,
One of my user is getting error in the private view that she created
I am not sure about the elements that she used for the dimensions of that view,
And you have asked to check the security for that user, my doubt is if she doesnt have the access to those elements of that dimensions means then how could she create those private views on her own but she is able to access other public views in the cube ,
also no elements in dimensions used by that cube are deleted
am using cognos 9.5.2
So could you help me how i could proceed

Re: TM1 array of subset error
You will also get this error if you have a view that includes one or more dimension elements that have since been removed from a dimension.

I checked this scenario manually by creating some dummy dimennsion and a cube with those dimensions
I handpicked some elements from that dimension and saved a private view in my login
Then i deleted those elements from dimension and when i try to open the view i get the error as 'Error creating view array'
So could there be any other reason for getting this error 'Cannot find arrays of subset which define the view.'
Please let me know
Thanks

Re: TM1 array of subset error
I have a similar problem. When a new user create a private view, he can only view it during this session. After login again, it will give an error "cannot find arrays of subset which define the view". Any idea?

And this issue is only on private view, public view is fine.

What have you tried?macsir wrote:I have a similar problem. When a new user create a private view, he can only view it during this session. After login again, it will give an error "cannot find arrays of subset which define the view". Any idea?
Have you checked the data directory folders to see that the vue file is created in the given user's folder as they click save?
Have you opened up the vue file in notepad and validated that all elements it is looking for exist? Note that these files aren't the easiest to view manually but as long as you start with smaller views you should be able to work them out.
Is this happening for every single cube that the user creates views on or only certain cubes? (that contain certain dimensions)

Thanks declanr.
What have you tried?
Have you checked the data directory folders to see that the vue file is created in the given user's folder as they click save?
Yes, both public and private views are created.
Have you opened up the vue file in notepad and validated that all elements it is looking for exist? Note that these files aren't the easiest to view manually but as long as you start with smaller views you should be able to work them out.
Yes, they are exactly same except for the timestamp.
Is this happening for every single cube that the user creates views on or only certain cubes? (that contain certain dimensions)
Only on this cube. Other cubes are fine.
One thing I also tried is move the public view file to private folder and move private view file to public folder even though those views are created by admin. The same error still exists for both.
Another thing is for public view, it is valid for relogin. But after restarting tm1 service, it would also fail to open with same error.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
I suspect that it is a bug but don't know how it comes. Hope the new release 10.2 can resolve that.

Re: TM1 array of subset error
The problem is when view or subset refers to aliased element in list and the alias gets removed.
