64 bit TM1 on the Same Server as 32 bit Oracle 9i

Post by therich »

Does anyone know if it is possible to run 64 bit TM1 on the Same Server as 32 bit Oracle 9i?
I am new to this but would imagine that there must be some compatibility issues.

You might want to define what you mean by "compatibility issues."

If you mean "will x64 TM1 and x86 Oracle 9i run on the same Win x64 server?" then the answer is yes, no problem. TM1 does not rely on any database platform, it is its own fully self contained and proprietary in-memory OLAP database. Whether there are any issues running 32 bit 9i on a 64 bit platform I don't know, I'm no expert on Oracle databases.

If you mean "are there any communication difficulties between x64 TM1 and x86 Oracle 9i" then the answer is there can be, as the 32 bit ODBC driver setup on a 64 bit server can be tricky but any issues can usually be resolved. Assuming good technical troubleshooting is available there shouldn't be any issue once set up correctly.

The communication via ODBC should be fine. When completing the oracle installation make sure you install the oracle user tool set. This will install the native oracle ODBC driver,
