Localizing a TM1 model

Post by Wim Gielis »

Hello all,

I am exploring the possibilities of localizing a TM1 model. I do this in PAW 2.0.36 and PAL 2.0.6. The browser is Chrome.

I have a simple 2-D cube with years and months. No measures. Month elements are M01 to M12 with a Caption alias to translate into different languagues. For now I have English (locale = en), Dutch (locale = nl), French (locale = fr).

I add 3 screenshots, showing that in PAW the objects are shown in the English locale. In TM1, I show the control cubes that hold the information by }Culture. I use a TI process to populate these Caption entries. The Google Chrome language is in Dutch though, so I would expect to see the names for dimensions, elements and subsets to be in Dutch. For now I only see English. Moreover, I see the Caption values for the 'en' }Culture, instead of the object names so somehow the Caption is being used (though it should be for }Culture = 'nl' )

You probably have to move Dutch to the top of the language list.

You can check the 'Accept-Language' header sent by the browser to the server, that controls which captions are selected.

Spot on ! Thank you very much !

I did not find a lot of information on this topic on the internet, just using Google, or the forum here.
I wonder why this is because it seems to make an application multi-language in a relatively easy way.
Seems like not a lot of applications use this functionality. Granted, TM1 Web and Architect/Perspectives do not support it natively.
After more testing I will post back.
