Re: Cannot connect to TM1 Admin server from perspectives
The admin server has nothing at all to do with whether a person is an admin user or not. The admin server doesn't know or care whether the user even HAS a login. Its sole and exclusive role is not to connect you to the TM1 server, but to provide you with a LIST of TM1 servers that are running and registered with it. You then select one or more of the servers from that list to connect to.
If you can't connect to the Admin Server then usually the Admin Host has not been set correctly in Perspective's options. It needs to be:
(a) The name or IP address of the machine that the admin server is running on; and
(b) The client needs to able to connect to that server inside the network.
You can usually test the second of these by opening a command window (ON THE CLIENT MACHINE, NOT THE SERVER) and using the Ping command to see whether you can get a response using the machine name that you have entered as the Admin Host. If you can't. try using the IP address of the Admin Host instead. If that doesn't work either, then you have a problem with the Admin Host being correctly connected to your network and/or configured, and it's time to have a word to your IT department.
