Is there a way to refresh all Contributor Views of all users globally?

Post by Paul-TM1 »

Hi All,
I have changed a subset in a view and that does not reflect on all users in contributor. When users rest views, changes appear. Is there a way to reset all views to all users globally?
One way is to remove all blb files? Once when I removed blb files, JavaScript errors popped and did not look like it fixed it.
Can someone give a good solution?

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi,

There is a little (0,1%) chance TM1 App Maintenance utility can do this, I didn't check: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgece ... stool.html

If not:
1) Kick all the users (or stop the server)
2) Delete the users' views in folders <DATA folder>\<Namespace>\<User>\<your cube name>}vues\<changed view name>_<app's guid and other garbage>.vue
2) Start the server (if stopped)

Thanks Elessar, thanks for the reply.
TM1 maintenance utilty does not seem to have the capability and secondly, deleting all views and restarting is not possible as our server takes about 5 hours to restart.

I am still looking for a solution.

Thanks,
Luther.

The model is operating 24/7 ? No time left for maintenance ?
Is this expected - 5 hours seems a long time (assuming the use of persistent feeders) ?

Thanks Wim. We have a weekly maintenance when the server restarts. We do not have persistent feeders (PF) as one of the feeders is an issue and we totally lose the benefit of PF. But I was looking for something when the server is up.

Thanks,
Luther.

If this change is a one-off, why don't you either:
- do it just before the server starts again
- if not possible, introduce downtime of, say, 6 hours somewhere during the week. Is the model so critical that a planned downtime to change the functionality is not allowed ?

Or is this change not a one-off ?

You don't need to restart server to refresh private views (or make them really disappear once you removed the .vue files), just force re-login for users, either log them out or delete views at night, users will relogin in the morning to find it all updated :)

We have this working without any issues for a couple years.

Thanks Ykud.
Contributor views are not private views. The subsets change from time to time.
I thought deleting the blb files will do that trick. Is that not true?

I have disconnected all the active users this morning if not, I will delete the vue files. Thanks for the ideas.

Thanks,
Paul.

They are, each connecting user will create a view with node_id in the name the moment he rearranges anything in the application, try yourself, you'll see them created in the user folder under data directory :)
