PAW questions
Hello all,
We can create a process in PAW, and the editor shows coloured functions, arguments to functions, and more of that.
However, where can I indicate the data source of the process, like a subset or a text file for example ?
When a process creates a dimension, it seems that a Refresh of the objects is needed to see the new dimension. This is not needed in good old Architect. I prefer that approach.
When editing a dimension, can we do a "Paste as child" operation like in Architect ?
I am currently using a provisioned environment from IBM with PAW 2.0.28.
Thanks,
Wim

Re: PAW questions
And what about the TI function in hierarchies as the variant of Dimsiz ? To count the number of elements in an hierarchy, or do I miss something ?

Re: PAW questions
PAW is a separate SKU. Also, it requires Docker to run. The current version is supported under Docker for Windows (Server 2016) but I have not heard positive reports about it so you are better off installing on Linux (IBM push Red Hat but Ubuntu is fine). This can be virtualised. It is a new set of skills but don't be put off - it works well and delivers features which are well overdue. However, the developer and admin features which Wim has been grappling with seem to me to be quite a way from being stable and complete.

Re: PAW questions
Wim, I encountered the DimSiz hole as well, was told that you can use DimSiz('dimname:hierarchyname') to get the correct value back, believe this works with many of the old style TI functions if you can't find the equivalent.
Not sure if this is formally supported though so I'd use the new functions if you can.

Re: PAW questions
I have now heard from the InfoCat team that the latest release of PAW for Windows is stable and recommended for clients. Personally I rather like working with the Linux version but it does constitute a major barrier especially for mid-market customers and prospects. The current version is supported under Docker for Windows (Server 2016) but I have not heard positive reports about it so you are better off installing on Linux (IBM push Red Hat but Ubuntu is fine)

Re: PAW questions
I have had mixed results with the stability of docker for Windows. I know IBM has said that their build is stable, but I'm not sure that makes a wider comment on the overall deployments stability. In the end I've opted to run all of my workspace servers on Ubuntu Linux, and have had really great results.

Re: PAW questions
Wim,
I think data source has now been added to PAW in
2.0.29, but I haven't tested it yet.
