PAX for Excel 2013 is Slow Slow Slow

I will provide more details as requested, however - At a high level we have some users that are working with the PAX tool in TM1, and they are experiencing tremendous slowdown in the EXCEL application. For instance, they will have 3-5 second delays in basic excel navigation using arrow keys, and application of shading in cells - activities completely unrelated to TM1.
The Excel displays the the Message: "Excel is running into problems with the 'ibm framework for office' add-in. ...
Are there any known issues with the PAX tool that we can correct right off the bat?
We have opened a ticket with IBM on this also.
As I mentioned earlier - please let me know if you need additional information. This is really a barrier to acceptance for the users. (I can't blame them either)
