Planning Analytics Local 2.0.1 Web Performance

Post by mikiluo »

I'm upgrading TM1 from 10.1 to Planning Analytics Local 2.0.1 for my customer, the PAL 2.01 Web (TM1 Web) performance is not as good as expected.

I have tested the Web performance from 4 client machine (using IE 11 and Chrome), the testing result is interesting.

For each client, the first time to open the each web template is slow (a 100 row, 20 column static report will takes 15 or 20 seconds to display).
the second time to open the same template will be very fast (normally 2 to 4 seconds).
it seems that PAL 2.0.1 will cash some content on client side or server side , so open the same template for the second time will be very fast.

But The time for opening the template for the first time is unacceptable, a multi-sheet template will normally takes more than 30 seconds.
can someone advise how to improve the PAL 2.0.1 web performance for the first open time .

Hi mikiluo,

Out of interest how is your PAW server spec'd and what is your infrastructure like between TM1 and TM1 Web and PAW and the client.

My gut instinct would be that either TM1 Web or PAW is under resourced (if we even assume that this is a problem we can resolve from our end rather than an inherent feature of the current IBM build).

Not really helping I know...

The hardware for PAL 2.0.1 is 4 core , 32G memory, PAL 2.0.1 Web (TM1 10.3 Web) is on the same server as TM1 Server. we are not use PAW Server.

The testing result on the same Server, for a 100 row, 20 column static report, testing result should be like below.
TM1 10.1 Web : 8-10 seconds to open the template.
TM1 10.2 Web: 4-5 seconds to open the template, but the scrolling is slow.
TM1 10.3 Web (PAL 2.0.1): first time open the template takes 15-20 seconds, 2nd time open takes 2-4 seconds.

We have this issue open with IBM. I will post out anything that comes from it, but yes we have seen a significant difference in initial build time for templates in PA vs both .Net and Java Webs.

I am on 2.0.2 and I feel the web is slow on start but very fast on scroll.

I am trying some different settings and see if I can speed up anything.

Cheers,
