Planning Analytics Perspectives Issue

Hi everyone

I've installed the new Planning Analytics on Prem and now I'm having an issue starting Perspectives.

Everytime I try to start it, I get the message
Missing Library: C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\bin\gsk8ssl.dll
C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\bin\gsk8km.dll
Has anyone encounter this before or know how to resolve it please?
The files do exist within the directory specified.
I'm using Excel 2013 v15.0.4885.1001 (32bit)

Thank you

I haven't installed it yet so I haven't seen the install paths but from that path it looks like you may be using the 64 bit add-in that came out for 64 bit Excel some time in 10.2.2. If you have 32 bit Excel you still need to use the 32 bit add-in. Is there another bin folder (one on a path that does not have _64 in it) containing a tm1p.xla add-in? If so, try that one instead.

I tried both the one that sits in \bin and the one in \bin_64, but they give the same message.

The key question is which version of Perspectives did you install, the 32 or 64-bit? If you installed the 64-bit version and you have 32-bit Excel then it isn't going to work. Uninstall the client and install the 32-bit version.

I did that, but still no luck.

Same issue here. Running 32-bit client on 32-bit Excel on Windows 7 64b. The files gsk8ssl.dll and gsk8km.dll do exist.

Update (without success):
* Fiddling with the windows PATH didn't change anything.
* Uninstall/re-install didn't change anything (no errors in install log)
* gsk8ver runs and lists gsk8ssl.dll and gsk8km.dll

Anyone got any updates on this issue? I don't think it is a 32-bit vs 64-bit issue, as Perspectives was working until after I installed PAX. Once PAX installed, even disabling the new add-ins didn't fix the issue. Does anyone know a method of forcing Excel to open without third party add-ins (other than safe mode)?

We have had the same issue. We resolved this by uninstalling the package connector (then restarting the machine)

there is a known issue with perspectives 2.0 installed alongside package connector

We did the package uninstall and that worked for getting perspectives to work. Thank you guys for your help :)

There is a known issue with PAX and perspectives though, you can't use perspectives if PAX is installed. I'd uninstall PAX if you are wanting to use Perspectives.

Pretty sure that they both can't be loaded in Excel at once but you don't have to uninstall PAx

It works for a while but for example if you try and slice from a perspectives cube viewer with PAx loaded but not connected then the slice fails.

From our experience perspectives works fine if you don't have PAx loaded in Excel but you don't have to uninstall it. You can remove PAx from Excel through the add-ins menu.

This means that you can switch between clients as required.

If you are using MS Excel 32-bit so you may try to copy all gsk8*.dll files from the Planning Analytics install \bin directory to the Package Connector \bin directory.
