GPO Update for Excel 2016 impacting Excel 2010/2013

Post by Steve Rowe »

Hi,
We had an issue at a client today that I think is worth sharing.
Users arrived this morning to find that the perspectives client was not loading into Excel.
We establish that server is running and can be accessed via Architect.
If we disable the ribbon the client loads and users can work.
We reach strong conclusion that overnight update has taken place that has impacted office and not a pure TM1 problem.

Clients establish that "an Office 2016 GPO change was rolled out but just a couple of 2016 settings seemed to be outside of the 2016 registry key and applied to 2010/2013"

Given the timing of this and the chance for it to get confused with an SSL one (though the symptoms are clearly different) it is one to keep an eye out for.

Cheers,
