TM1 Instances Crash

Post by praveensannidhi »

HI
At my organisation we have 12 TM1 instances, Instance crashes randomly and no clue registered in the logs reason for the crash. we are currently on 10.2 version. I was assuming TM1 has any limitation to handle the huge amount of data? Currently we'r 80% usage of 1 TB RAM. can you please assist what are the possible ways to fix this issue including applying FP3, FP4 or upgrade to 10.2.2?
And also please let us know the TM1 capacity/Limitations if it has any?

Regards,

Not sure ,How much it is relevant to your issue, worth having a look at:

If you have enabled debug logging :

Hi Praveen

If TM1 is crashing, this is really an issue for IBM rather than the TM1 Forum. I suggest that you raise a PMR and IBM will then advise you as to the settings to turn on in TM1S-LOG.Properties to capture what they need to find the cause of the crash.

HI,

Thanks for the suggestion, we have already logged PMR and logs and dumps sent to IBM. I was wondering is there any limitations for TM1 to handle such huge data?

If have any ideas please let us know.

So the TM1 server crash happens when the TM1 server process reaches about 80% usage of 1 TB RAM ?

Maybe that is due to bad hardware, eg a bad memory module.

Did you ever run a full physical memory test against the 1 TB of RAM in your server ?
Using the built-in memory test features of your server, and Windows built-in Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, and some external memory test like MemTest or memtest86 ?

Regarding what to do when hit by a TM1 server crash, do you know the TM1 Server Crash Playbook ?

Also, is there a pagefile set up on the server? If so, it may well report this as part of the 1TB RAM, and I've seen servers crash when memory usage gets so high as to start paging.
