CAFE: "Formula mode required registration ..."

Post by image2x »

Can anyone shed light on this Cognos CAFE message:

"Formula mode required registration and will not work until Excel is restarted"

I've only been working with CAFE for a couple of days and get this message roughly half the time when clicking the IBM Cognos button.

I have, BTW, added in the TM1 specific CAFE Excel add-on (which really should have been installed by default).

Also, slices from web sheets have yet to work properly. I see #KEY_ERR messages until I go cell-by-cell and hit enter and then value then pops (for that individual cell).

Thanks,

We've been having this issue as well, though we definately haven't been able to get an idividual cell to calculate.

Just out of curiousity, what happens when you do Ctrl + Alt + Shift + F9?

I'm assuming you've read all of this?

Had a productive conversation with IBM, to sort out this issue you need to do the following (Assuming you have Admin rights on your PC)

1. Start -> type “regedit”.

2. Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\CognosOffice12.Connect].
(If CognosOffice12.Connect is not there, right click & Add Key)

3. Under “CognosOffice12.Connect”, click into the panel in the right and insert these as string:
"Description"="IBM Cognos Office for Excel 2007/2010"
"FriendlyName"="IBM Cognos Office for Excel 2007/2010"

4. Under “CognosOffice12.Connect”, click into the panel in the right and insert this as DWORD:
"LoadBehavior"=00000003

Open CAFE, you'll likely get the prompt for registering again, close CAFE/Excel & reopen, all sorted!!

Now to get the darn DBRW/DBRA & TM1 Processes to work in CAFE!!
