CAFE and Cognos Express

Post by tomok »

Does anyone know if you have a licensed copy of CAFE and you also have a CX server are you allowed to connect to the CX server (I mean the TM1 component) with CAFE, or can you only connect with the Xcelerator add-in?

I'm not sure if CAFE has been included with Express yet. Are you talking about a TM1 license for CAFE or a BI license for CAFE? Either way it's questionable. I don't know the answer for certain but knowing the way that IBM sell Express as a package I wouldn't be surprised if they don't allow it. It could however go the other way. Have you asked IBM?

No, I haven't asked IBM, mostly because you can spend days trying to find someone who can answer a question about licensing, unless it involves actually purchasing them. I was hoping one of the readers here would know. Maybe they'll bundle CAFE into CX 10.2.2.

I thought I heard that as well, but knowing IBM they've called it something else or limited it in some way to stop it being used with anything else.

Hi All:

I've asked this a few times at the Vision conference and the consistent answer is that CAFE is currently not included with Cognos Express.
