Re: SSO for TM1 Application Web / Contributor
Funny you mention this because we just started testing 10.1 pretty seriously and that is first thing we noticed on all the new features that we have tried to use so far. This has also been an issue with other applications that integrate with TM1 (Business Viewpoint). Once you give the users a no pas...

Re: TM1 Locks
You should find this link helpful on PI http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21460595 . You will have to look at your processes and verify that you are not doing any meta data updates and the like, but you should see minimal locking in TM1 with PI turned on. Also I dont know if it is in...

Re: Security Strangness/Inconsistent Behavior
I figured it out. Not sure why I did not hit this before or in any other cube. There as a legacy rule that said IF(The version is part of the open version consolidation, COntinue, STET). In the rule tracer this was the only rule that the cells in question was hitting. The behavior that I saw was 1) ...

Re: Security Strangness/Inconsistent Behavior
Sorry for the delay in posting got swamped all of a sudden As far as security we have Cube, Dimension and element level security affecting that cube. All the security is hard coded into the cubes, we have no rule based secuirty. As far as similarities Dimension security is shared Cube Security is ba...

Re: Network problem occuring one of sever
We experienced this issue with the Lock Pages In Memory that Jim mentioned and through debugging with IBM it was determined that this was causing the server to run out of page file even though everything looked fine on the server. We disabled it since as long as there is some activity on the server ...

Re: Number of possible users on a read only cube.
In testing our 9.5.2 FP1 model we were able to 375 users hitting the box fairly hard and saw very little in the way of slowdown and this was in a read write model. Partitioning does not have the benefits it used to. We actually just collapsed our model from a partitioned one and have seen better per...

Re: Security Strangness/Inconsistent Behavior
Unfortunately that is a negative on both. They were not entering to a consolidation I saw them do the entry. Also when we tried through the cube viewer the cell was white and still gave us the error. We have no security rules everything was filled via a TI or hard coded. I even had top open to make ...

Security Strangness/Inconsistent Behavior
I have come across a problem in one of our cubes and I am at a loss at the moment. We have an issue with users going into one cube (either through a template or through the cube viewer) and getting inconsistent security errors. I have seen where they write to a cell, refresh and attempt to write aga...

Re: performance degrade of reports after dimension reorder
How did it affect your TM1 query times on that cube (though a view or excel template)? The issue with the dimension reorder is that the smallest cube size is not always the most efficient for queries. Normally such a huge difference is not expected but it is possible.

Re: View seems to lock cube for write access
Wow. I have looked at that document a few times and never remembered the quoted section (though I probably tuned out at the time since I was not using view construct). If that is the case then no amount of dependencies will help you. It sounds like it will always block.

Re: View seems to lock cube for write access
Disclaimer: I have not tested PI with View Construct, I am going under the assumption that it is not a special case the would break PI. Places I would look first 1) Are there any cube dependencies being generated while the view construct is running? These are located in the tm1server log if you have...

Re: 952 Excessive Cube Dependency entries on log
Just a shot in the dark, is there anyway you could narrow it down to possibly a specific cube and then rules within the cube? We had an issue when upgrading to 9.5.2 (from 9.4) where we started seeing excessive logging of errors on a model that had not changed. Turned out to get around a possible cr...

Re: Using Databasedirectory in several TM1 servers
Yes, but if you wanted a batch file that you run when the service is shutdown would also do the trick to organize the directories.EP_explorer wrote:You mean that I have to put objects in folders manually and it wasn't TM1 which will do it?

Re: Using Databasedirectory in several TM1 servers
The thing is that I don't need restart server if I want receive new portion of data on the other servers from the first one I hoped may be the way exists to changed dimensions. Your way of unloading and reloading may work, but what I was getting at is you have to be entirely sure that changes are m...

Re: Using Databasedirectory in several TM1 servers
That parameter was never set up to share a data directory between servers. As you have seen it works somewhat but you are setting yourself up for issues with savedataall and server restarts that can cause havoc to your data and the timing of which server wrote which cube when. Your best bets are 1) ...

Re: Installing TM1 FP1
It is normal behavior because of the different nature of the upgrade. On the server the contents of the install directory is updated and this is completely separate from your data, so there is no issue. In the web your customizations are stored in the same directory so they cannot just assume to ove...

Re: Downloading IBM Cognos TM1 10.1.0
To Steve's point the installer seems much better. I installed the x64 server on my laptop without an issue. Though I have not used the new configuration manager to get all the other pieces going. For the core Tm1 components the installer got things up and running quickly. I will see how much fun the...

Re: Change file extension to XLSX instead of XLS for slices
From what I have been told by IBM Jim's answer is right now. As long as 2003 is a supported environment this is not an option. If anyone knows differently I would love to be wrong. On a side note it is somewhat of a pain since I have had to constantly field questions on the 256 column limit the shou...

Re: Vizier - Needs some objective insight about this tool
I used it in a previous company. The tool is pretty good. As with anything some features are better then others, but you will find the ones that are useful turn out to be very useful. The TI editor is good and if you spend the time to learn the tool and customize it with your particular snippets and...

Thanks.
Those were the answers I was coming to in testing but wanted to get some external confirmation since the option does not seem to be explained anywhere.
