Re: Possessed TM1 Service!

Are you sure someone's not running the TM1 server as an application? If so, you won't see it in the Services list and you won't see it on Task Manager if it's not running under your ID. You may also try looking for the service key in the Registry. If it's still there delete it manually out of the Re...

Re: string to number

but this belongs to a requirement, the requirement is like when you enter the data in a cube, the entered data will be text, but in the report of the same cube, the text should be numeric. I don't know of any piece of software that can convert ABCDE into a number unless you are talking about the ASC...

Re: Reordering Element's Parents

Actually, what you are looking for is not the element order, but rather to control which tree get's the appropriate parent index number. This is important when you want to write a rule or TI based on the ELPAR index number. The only way to control that, that I know of, is to put the DimensionElement...

Re: Insert Element Using TI Process Parameters

Hi, i have simillar problem, i'm trying to add from websheet into the cube some string elements using TI process with one string parameter. The process fails only when is running from the websheet. I tried to find, what is sent from web and therefore i used the AsciiOutput function. In the file was...

Re: Transferring budget data to actuals or actuals to budget

For me it depends on what the client has hired me to do. If it is strictly a planning and forecasting model then I wouldn't build a separate cube to hold actuals. I just have an Actual element in the version dimension, along with budget, forecast_1, forecast_2, etc. so they can compare the two in th...

Re: Edit alias using cube Element attribute

Aliases have to be unique. If you are trying to create an alias that consists of just the first four characters of the element name are you certain that there are no duplicates when you limit yourself to just looking at the first four characters of the elements?

Re: XDI Files not updating TM1

It is as if something is flagged inside of TM1 on this dimension, as I am able to edit all other dimensions, just not this one. Make sure that the xdi file is located in the same folder as the other xdi's and that the folder is specified in the Data Directory setting in TM1 Options in Perspectives....

Look in the IBM Cognos TM1 Reference Guide for ProcessReturnCode in the Implicit Global Variables section of TI. That's what you'll need to use.

Re: Questions about Replication

So many Cubes are in Cognos Planning models. I don't think they are very unoptimal. And as I can understand iI will not reduce number of Cubes drastically in TM1. So the question about mantaintanance such system appears. I have been doing TM1 projects for over 15 years, for some of the biggest comp...

Re: TM1 Web - Prevent entering values on C-Elements

If the web sheet was created in Excel you can apply protection to the C level cells and users won't be able to enter. I use this all the time for input templates.

Re: AsciiOutput Taking Too Long

Just an idea -- what if you just removed the rule file (substitute it with blank one) in Prologue, Export the cube and then get rule back in Epilogue? Might work exactly as 'disable calcs'. I'm afraid all that would do is make all the cells that had a value calculated for them become zero so the ex...

Re: MDX filter by value

A FILTER-functioned MDX query will only work when you specify a single element in all the other dimensions that exist in the cube that has the values you are filtering on. At least that has been my experience. I once spent the better part of a week trying to do something like what you want and could...

Re: AsciiOutput Taking Too Long

There HAS to be a way to export the data in #1 without recalculating the affected data, reprocessing the rules/feeders, reassigning cube dependencies, etc. There isn't, nor has there ever been, at least to my knowledge, a way to tell TM1 "hey don't bother recalculating anything, just give me w...

Re: MDX for excluding values in "Total" TM1 subsets

A subset is just as the name implies, it's a selected listing of items from a dimension. It does not change any of the properties of those elements, like their parent, or attribute values. A subset CAN NOT change how a hierarchy works nor can it stop an element from rolling up to a parent, if that i...

Re: Hide Elements From Users AS Well As Administrators

Depends on your definition of "hide". If you mean make it so an admin can't see the elements when they open the dimension or browse a cube that includes the elements, then the answer is no. An admin in TM1 CAN SEE AND DO ANYTHING TO THE MODEL. This is just the way it is. However, if the id...

Re: Feeders Between Two Cubes with Different Dimensions

While I appreciate the response, I honestly feel that it would be more than a few hours to resolve this. The process itself takes an hour to run, so one diagnostic and one check run already eats into that time entirely. I applaud you for your effort in trying to get your problem figured out but I t...
