UNDEFVALS rules function
Hi, is there something like a UNDEFVALS rules function in PALO. I need to distinguish 0 put in by a user from the default 0. Values are sent through Excel files, so as a workaround I would send a number little greater than 0 in order to be able to distinguish later. If someone knows a better solutio...

Re: Microsoft Olap server
The Microsoft OLAP Server is called Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). With "SQL Server" the relational database component is meant,"SQL tables" how Jim called it. It can serve as the data source for the OLAP server.

Re: Cube Design for Survey Data
Hi Andrew, from my understanding your dimQuestion would only contain PrimaryKey and QuestionText. So "how happy are you at work" would only appear once in your dimension table. The QuestionAnswer = 1-7 is your metric and would only appear in the fact table, right? The gender you could put ...

Re: Problem with Data Refresh in TM1 9.1 SP2 Update 3
Maybe it helps to delete/recreate the view in TI in the epilog after your data load. It will take few time to test.
As with every software you need to find a quick workaround and can't wait for a bug fix.

I hope you deleted the rule completely and not only the declarations in it? A blank rule sheet will slow things.

Re: Fishcakes Int. Rules guide model
Wim, I wouldn't rely on the docs. There are mistakes in it. For example in tm1_rules_guide_en_9_4.pdf regarding the order of rules it says on p. 229: "Recall that rules statements should always be ordered most-restrictive to least-restrictive according to area definition." and on p.132 of ...

Re: TM1 is loaded but is not able to connect *URGENT*
If I understand your procedure correctly I suppose you need to copy your objects incrementally into your (almost) empty data directory and see which one causes the problem after restart. Start with the *.cub and *.rux, that you changed last.

Architect 9.4.1 FP1 - set measure dimension
right click on cube -> properties -> drop down list for measure dimension is not populated or only one arbitrary dimension displayed in drop down list.
workaround: enter dimension name manually in control cube "}CubeProperties"

Cognos 8 license question
Hello,
I suppose that there are different licenses in Cognos 8 BI depending on the kind of usage (passive report consumers, power users). Can someone tell me the difference in license costs per named user, please. I only need rule of thumb/relative values.
TIA,
Marcus

Re: TM1 Top Count
TM1 does 2, I'd argue that this is wrong and misleading. TM1 does what it is told, Steve. If appleglaze writes a function TopCount(<set>, 2 ), TM1 gives 2 results. If it is forced to make an arbritary decision, then the analyst has to think about other approaches that yield the result he would like...

Re: TM1 Top Count
If you limit the number of result values in your query to 2 you wouldn't expect 3 results, would you? Depending on your analysis scope you may use a FILTER query (value > x) instead of TopCount.

Re: Duplicate OLAP data cube
Jerry,
there is a copy/paste functionality in 'Solution Explorer' in Visual Studio. (right click on your cube in question). I have SQL 2008 installed now but it should be available for SQL 2005 as well.

Re: Free OLAP Development
You could use Pentaho Mondrian, it's a different concept. The data storage takes place in the relational database. Mondrian has no storage of its own. Thus the cube is a virtual one. It uses the RDBMS aggregator (GROUP BY) for aggregating and materialized views of the relational database. You can ba...

Re: TM1 vs. SAP BPC
I can't answer your questions, but I thought that SAP would promote Cartesis for consolidation purposes. BPC (the former Outlooksoft, right?) was supposed to be used for financial planning. But maybe they have changed their mind. I doubt that Outlooksoft has been more common or known than TM1 in the...

Re: MDX Except Function
just a quick answer to give you an idea - without having tested it. You may use .children to exclude the C-Element one step before the except comes into place:
Except(
{[Finstmt_bs_Account].[Accrued Expenses].children},
{[Finstmt_BS_Account].[Accrued Bonuses]}
)
Except(
{[Finstmt_bs_Account].[Accrued Expenses].children},
{[Finstmt_BS_Account].[Accrued Bonuses]}
)

adma, the questions are very non-ambiguous, even for me who didn't grow up with Shakespeare in school. If you're earning your daily bread with rules and TI you will pass the exam without preparation. If you're used to advanced scripting in TI you may take a look at the basic parts in the manual befo...
