Re: Is is possible for CANROCK to share the TM1 10.1 preview
Kavee: Details on future TM1 releases need to come directly from the source: IBM. Partners/customers who have seen previews of future releases are usually not permitted to publicly discuss what they've seen. I can see from canrock's conference agenda that Brian Simpson from IBM is a featured speaker...

Re: Service started, not showing up in Architect or Web
I'm always afraid to open that log during an active startup for fear I'll interfere with TM1 writing to it, but as long as you aren't opening it in Excel or a program that will hold it open exclusively you should be OK and it should give you a far clearer picture of where the TM1 Server is in the s...

Re: Service started, not showing up in Architect or Web
Manoj: Bear in mind that with TM1 Servers running as services you'll typically see a delay between Windows saying it's "Started" and the server showing up in the TM1 client apps. How much of a delay depends on how much TM1 data, feeders, etc need to be processed on your specific TM1 Server...

Re: API Functions for TM1Top
Hi Sampler: As far as I know, it's not that there's a big delay in TM1TOP's information, but there are a couple potential things you need to keep in mind with its data: 1) It gives you all active thread data when you ask for it, so it's not as though it's feeding you realtime updates - I think this ...

Re: API Functions for TM1Top
Hi Sampler: First, you say you're new to TM1 so I'll give the usual words of caution: If you don't really need to use the TM1 API (I'm talking mainly the C/VB TM1 API here) then you'll probably be much happier overall. The TM1 API certainly has a place in the TM1 world, but it's not an essential too...

Re: TM1 User Name in Spreadsheet ?
Hi: If you're using TM1 9.5 (as your profile seems to indicate) then you should be able to use the TM1USER function (which is also valid in Turbo Integrator and even TM1 Rules, despite what the documentation says): http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ctm1/v9r4m1/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.swg.im....

Re: Cube Dependency impact on performance
Hi Harry: First, I'd make very sure you've truly added all the cube dependencies needed in advance of opening the view. When opening the view, if you see additional "Adding cube dependency..." messages in the server message log then that would indicate you've missed some that need to be ad...

Re: Cube Dependency impact on performance
Hi Harry: Looking at the Server message log (tm1server.log): AddCubeDependency( 'CubeA', 'CubeB' ) does this: TM1.Cube.Dependency Adding cube dependency: cube "CubeB" depends on cube "CubeA" AddCubeDependency( 'CubeB', 'CubeA' ) does this: TM1.Cube.Dependency Adding cube dependen...

Re: DBRA Discrepancies (9.5.2)
Hi: Just a guess here, but does the cell referenced (A3) have a numeric-looking element name that is formatted in Excel as a number or date? For example, "50100" or "Jan-2010"? If so, you may need to reformat the A3 cell as text, either by prefixing the element name with a single...

Re: Integration of TM1 element alias' into Report Studio
....which is at the point of publishing the TM1 cube in Framework Manager, you seem to be able to only select one alias per dimension in the cube to be published. If you have more than one alias, there appears to be no other way of bringing these alias' into Report Studio. Hi Ajay: I don't think yo...

Hi Michel: Short answer: * Can you add Hierarchy1, Hierarchy2, etc?: YES * Does this do much of anything useful in terms of presentation (through Cognos BI, for example)?: NO, Not that I can see. It seems like the }Hierarchies dimension is there for the purpose of supporting multiple hierarchies, bu...

Re: Stet and Continue in Rules
Sort of. The version can't be both "Budget" AND "Current Version" at the same time for a given cell in the cube, but I think what you're hoping is for cells in the cube to be left alone (no rules) if the version is anything other than "Current Version" or "Budget&q...

Re: Purpose of User Group }tp_Everyone
I can't face (and don't have time) implementing either WF or Cont - but can I ask forumers who have either to have a look at their systems to settle _which_ one uses this prefix? I'm pretty sure they don't share structures. Be good to know which is which. "}tp"-prefixed objects would poin...

By all means, please share any evidence to the contrary... I felt like killing time over lunch and ran some really simple tests via...

At Black Belt last year the product team were pretty strong on not using dynamic subsets too much Interesting too, I learned it from an expert who just pass this certification, but maybe he changed his mind after. Or, maybe you and/or the expert misunderstood the advice from the training? After all...

Looks like IBM's already posted an explanation?

Apparently you just work at too high a rate of speed... multiple dimension updates in under a minute!

Mike
