Re: Cognos Controller & TM1

Hi AWILDE, I'll just qualify this by saying I've no experience of Controller. There's nothing that apple glaze mentions in his post that TM1 doesn't handle well. Since you already have a system that's working well in pure TM1 perhaps it would be worth you mentioning some specific areas where you wou...

Re: TM1 Definition and basic use

Hi Gary, welcome to the forum. The literal defintion of TM1 is Table Manager 1, not sure if that is what you are after? It's pretty meaningless, it's just a name attached to the product as it's evolved over the last 20 (?) years. It's a RAM resident OLAP database. Out of the box it's pretty much a b...

Re: Possible reasons for a single cell not being fed

Hi Dubs, That's strange what you have written should be working if ['Half Year', 'Predicted'] and ['Real'] are both N level input fields. As Michael says, we need information on the dimensionality of the system to understand more about what's happening. Perhaps if you screen shot the area of the cub...

Re: Problem building Dimension (Hierarchies)

ExApplix, I think the problem you are having building this structure is that you are thinking of it as one dimension. If you treat DeptFunc as another dimension then your problems will go away. The other approach is to have two consolidations in the dept dimension. One by function and one by structu...

Re: Rows with no values are not suppressed

Try this, Change the rules that are like this ['VAT Rate']=N: IF(['Quantity']<>0,DB('general_so_setting',!base_sales_personnel,!base_so_number,'VAT Rate'),STET); to ['VAT Rate']=N: IF(['Quantity']<>0,DB('general_so_setting',!base_sales_personnel,!base_so_number,'VAT Rate'), 0 ); The original of this...

Re: Calculation differences Local V Normal

Hi lotsa! Debate rules, especially before you've had your first coffee! As ever with TM1 you can make it do what you want how you want. I just feel that being forced to write the N and C in exact area pairs is unnecessarily restrictive and does not seem to bring any benefits at all. If putting the N...

Re: Calculation differences Local V Normal

The example you have given is really a special case where the LHS of the N and C part are the same, it's usually not as simple, though. [AreaA]=N: [AreaB]=C: AreaA and AreaB partially overlap in some way. You then have to specify additional Ifs in your C level rule for AreaA where A and B intersect,...

Re: ViewZeroOut on Strings in 9.4 HF16

Hey Jed,
Just to clarify this do you mean the string elements are in the last dimension in the cube or have the highest index in the dimension so they are listed last in that dimension?

Cheers,

Re: Transfer of String Data from 1 cube to another

HI apple, You should use feedstrings, if you do not the values won't show up (if you have skipcheck at least). You should feed with quantity. I can't remember off the top of my head which way round feedstrings and skipcheck go. Skipcheck; Feedstrings; Rules Feeders; Quantity => Lead, Invoice ; HTH

Re: Rule Performance Tuning

I think one area you can look at is if you are referencing strings in rules. Usually but not always these are attributes. It's important that strings you test against (this means all attributes, even numeric ones are really strings) should be input and not rule derived. This is because ruled strings...

Re: Using String for rules

Hi appleG,

The rule should work and you're correct if you add new locations the rule will not need updating, though it's possible you may need to resave the rules to fire feeders.

Can't you get it to work?

Re: IRR Modeling...

You might want to switch to DBS and DBRs rather than DBRW and DBSW. If you are sending numbers to and from TM1 on the same sheet then that might help. The other thing that I'm guessing is you have a long sequence of ruled values all depending on some initial inputs. It may be that you are blowing th...

Sounds like an interesting project.

Off the top of my head you might want to look at using a TI process rather than a DBS....

If you give a bit more detail about what's broken or not behaving we can try and help.

Re: TI Chore and Process EXEs

Yous shouldn't need to log onto the server seperatly, the chore code handles that. Like you I don't know what the message means, a guess would be that user you are using is only allowed one login (see }client properties) and when the chore execute process logs in it can't?

Re: TI Chore and Process EXEs

Say you have a TM1 server called TM1Server and it's running on a physical server called TM1Host and you want to run the chore Test, your call should read.

TM1ChoreExecute.exe TM1Host TM1Server User Password Test

Where a user and password is a valid log in with read access to the chore.

Re: TI Chore and Process EXEs

Wudz, this means that the script is not finding your tm1 host server, either you've not set the parameter for the box running your TM1 server or it can't be seen from where you are running the script.

An advert for TM1

For the first time ever I've seen an ad for TM1, well OK IBM Cognos Express, "the first and only integrated business intelligence and planning solution built and priced to meet the needs of midsize businesses". It's three or pages into this months (UK) WIred. Interestingly the ad gives a p...

Re: Update Dimension Lists for Discontinued/Replacements Element

Hi Lance,
Just to back Mr Ram up, I would not get into moving data around. It's far easier, as he suggests, to create a parent of the old and new product so that the value can be easily compared.

Data Directory path issue

I've just hit and a resolved a strange pathing issue and was wondering if anyone can throw some light on what might have happened or changed. 903U9 and 64 bit Windows Server 2003 SP2 We've been running a TI process that calls a perl script quite happily for several months using this statement cmd /c...
