Re: TI process nullifies all acess rights

From the 9.1 online help TM1User This is a TM1 worksheet function, valid only in worksheets. The TM1User worksheet function returns the user name of the current TM1 user. If the current TM1 user is not connected to a server, or if the specified server is not running, TM1User returns an empty string....

No - but the user is in 2 groups, which is the broken bit.

Interaction of element and cell security rules

Had a client come through with something rather odd. They have security groups dividing up access by cost centre. So in the cost centre security rules, we have ['Div1Grp'] = s: if(elisanc('CC','Div1',!CC) = 1 % !CC @= 'Div1', 'WRITE', #ELSE 'READ' ); which works fine. But in the salaries cube (dimen...

Ken, I'm back from the Middle East on Monday (actually I'm in Amsterdam now - long story) and will call you then to discuss possible solutions/workrounds.

Re: Exporting Cube data to Sql Server Table

I think you've relied on the syntax in the help file - which is not always a good thing. If you are inserting string values, you need to quote them - whoever wrote the helpfile didn't know that. So I second Steve's suggestion - the sql statement written to a flat file should look like " insert ...

Re: Ability to link or access to other BI tools from TM1

Jim, I'd like to hear more of your experiences with this. We tried MS Analysis service as a source and that was reasonable, though in that case you could be better off taking from the underlying SQL tables. But having tried quite a bit to interface TM1 with another TM1 server I have my doubts it wou...

Re: Replication - worth it ? or not ?

This thread has reminded me of something I planned to look at some time ago, when we tried replication and (as Scott commented) found it only of value in very specific, limited circumstances. There's a tool called Rsync, which was written by Andrew Tridgell, the co creator of Samba, as his PhD proje...

Re: TM1 9.4 (x64) - No Gateway for 32 bits ODBC drivers

Raise an SR/whinge to your a/c manager.
I would surmise that installation of 9.1 AXNET might work (it's just a comms layer after all) but (of course) it depends what is 'supported'.

Fede, I (and probably other) forumers who (typically) respond to queries will be baffled by yours. I'm guessing you are Italian. If you would care to repost in that language, or to send me a message, I will do what I can. Posso parlare un po' d'italiano ma non molto :)

Re: Managing Security with Rules

You may know this, but you haven't mentioned it. Turn Control cubes on, then you can use the standard cube viewer to manage the various security cubes. Note that element security cubes are created when you maintain security against an element using the frontend - and you probably then need to refres...

Does the problem survive a restart? (My normal starter for 10 when TM1 goes into X-files mode :) )

Re: VBA code for Integrated Login

Hmmmm. I've been working recently with IL (mainly patching round the unusable, poorly documented ETLDAP stuff). With IL, since you don't need to provide a user and password, do you need this code at all? Try just skipping it and 'assuming' you are already logged in. And let the forum know what happe...

Seriously bitter blog posting about PPS

http://cobb.typepad.com/cubegeek/2009/01/microsoft-pps-dead.html It's worth quoting in full here - with some highlights (of mine) Disappointment indeed. It's now official. I can say with finality that I wasted a year in my career. In fact, a lot of good people that I know personally wasted a year an...

Re: TM1 automated process

You're using the wrong tool then (I don't often say that). MSAS is probably more suitable for black boxing. Your organization won't have a usable system unless a knowledgeable TM1 admin can look at it and fix problems.

Re: TM1 automated process

Are you trying to look after a TM1 server without (TM1) admin access? Don't. I can't see how anybody would ever find that workable. If you can logon to the TM1 server you can (normally) view the error logs (I have seen that not working occasionally).

Re: Determining server name in TI

Thanks. I have taken the approach of reading the CFG file into a string cube, which works well. Of course when _writing_ the TI I had to specify a server specific path on the first file box, but I think the result should be portable.

Re: Period Dimension idle time

Ross, Chengooi, I don't believe you will find any way to do this. TM1 logs data changes but they go to flat files and no programmatic access is provided to that (I wish there were). Performance Monitor tracks activity by minute but not by dimensions. It does by cube, but it would be hard to work wit...

Determining server name in TI

I have just built integrated login at a client. Since (in my experience) ETLDAP doesn't work (mainly dreadful documentation), the update of users is via a script generating a file which is processed via TI. All works well. But I need to move the stuff back to Dev, which won't be using integrated log...

Re: TM1 automated process

I did some Essbase not so long ago and I don't think you'll get to what exactly you are after with TM1. You can run a TI from within a COM (OLE) wrapper. Applix/Cognos/IBM don't provide it (only a nasty, low level API) but there are routines floating around to do this (we have one). But there is no ...
