did you try to use { HIERARCHIZE( YourMDX ) } ?

So you are sure this is not a Rule-Feeder related issue?

If you have a Rule somewhere with a STET statement, that could create some issue??

Just an idea

Subset editor shows elements only once, so if you have multiple hierarchies in the dimension, it will not expand them all.

The workaround i use is, in the websheet, i use checkbox “Drill to Leaf Elements” and then i create a dynamic MDX statement to be used in the TM1RPTRow, so if the user selects the CheckBox, the Active form shows the Dimension Total element and Leaf Elements, otherwise the active form shows the total...

I use a similar aproach to update my fiscal month dimension monthly, i keep the Current fiscal Month in a control cube and every time the superuser changes to the next month ( it could be automated based on current date but in finance usually they like to do it only after the prior month is closed) ...

Sounds like you are trying to recreate what TM1 Applications already does. When you say you "don't have it" you realize it is part of your license, you don't pay separately for it. Curious as to why you would spend time doing a custom workflow when Applications already does what you want....
