Re: Count in rules

The key thing with feeders to remember is all the action is at the N level, it is impossible to feed a consolidated cell. Consolidated cells are fed internally when an N level under it becomes non-zero. This is why your consolidation is not showing, since all the cells below it are zero the cell has...

Re: Count in rules

If you have persistent feeders on, which you probably do by default then I suggest turning it off, stopping the server, deleting the .feeder files and restarting. It is possible if you are have written the rule after loading the data that the feeders are not being triggered. Others may disagree but ...

Re: Count in rules

Good link, should be required reading. The other thing to consider is when it is appropriate to use a rule. Given that the number that drives this is loaded from a TI, it would have been easy to populate the count value at the same time. Although this would use more RAM at rest, the eventual calcula...

Re: Where is data source for TI in PAW?

Yup, IBM are in the process of migrating all admin / development functionality from Perspective / Architect to PAW. Whilst the PAW piece has been done for the main scripting pages, the datasource and variables parts have not yet been migrated. So you need to set-up the TI in the old world still. Onc...

Re: TI process is not getting executed from a Worksheet Application. Please help kind folks!

I'd be checking what is happening something along the follow lines. If I'm logged in as admin and when I hit the button the TI executes (i.e. I have checked the log and see it runs) then I know the action button is working. If nothing happens server side then the Action button is broken and need to ...

Re: PAW questions

Wim, I encountered the DimSiz hole as well, was told that you can use DimSiz('dimname:hierarchyname') to get the correct value back, believe this works with many of the old style TI functions if you can't find the equivalent. Not sure if this is formally supported though so I'd use the new functions...

Re: Anyway to prevent Files to Accidentally DBSW ?

A small extension to the conditional DBS is to put some VBA in the auto open event of the work book that turns the flag off and/or the before close event. That way the workbook always requires the flag to be set manually and it doesn't matter if the workbook is saved with the flag on or the workbook...

Re: Work unit operation failed due to lock error. Error code: 1

These kind of errors need to raised directly with IBM. Just in case you are not aware, this is an un official forum with no formal link to IBM. In order to get IBM to investigate the crash you will need to get a reproducible test case together and crash dumps, together with a whole bunch of informat...

Re: To use or not to use persistent feeders?

I also find out the feeder file someway contains feeders for not rule calculated cells also. For example in every cube we snapshot version to not rule calculated reporting version elements in the version dimension. When I take out the rule from the biggest cube that cube still generated a feeder fi...

Re: MDX to Filter on Numeric Attribute

Sort of off topic but... Isn't this a symptom of the way numeric attribute are implemented in the first place? Numeric attributes aren't really numeric cells in the same way that data is and IMO are just a "mask" on a string attribute. Personally I rarely use them since they behave like strings and ...

Re: Upgrading from 10.2.2 to Planning Analytics Local

Our experience has been quite different to Stefan's, on current releases at least. The complexity of the environment obviously does increase once you want PAW or PAx as you will need the PAW server in place, which mostly implies a second piece of hardware. If you are on an Express rather than a PVU ...

Re: Active Form formatting calculated rules

Is it an expected behavior? Is it because formatting and custom calculations are done in the same pass? Not convinced I have tried exactly this but you are probably right. I would think that you are better off putting a conditional format rule in the cell format itself at the top for formats that h...

Re: Cognos report with summary rows - performance

I think that you need to perform more analysis so that you can determine where the performance hit is coming from. Suggest you check the same report view in TM1 directly and check the performance there, then you will know if the issue is a TM1 one issue or relates to the query and tool you are using...

Re: after Cube optimization -> TI won't run

You're using commands like ViewRowDimensionSet(sCube, sqView, sDim, 1); these are redundant when building a view to be used as a datasource (in my experience), on the basis that less code is better you could try removing them. My personal preference would be to destroy the subsets if they exist rath...

Re: after Cube optimization -> TI won't run

Not an issue that I have ever come across so I guess it is could be a problem with the specific fix pack you are on. Do you create the view from scratch in the TI or is it a permanent object that existed from before re-ordering? I always build from scratch, if you are working from a permanent object...

Re: after Cube optimization -> TI won't run

Are you 100% sure that this TI ran before the cube was re-ordered?

99.9% of the cases of TIs "not running" are because they have a C level in them and the view definition has Suppress consolidations checked.

Re: Tool to analyse TM1 web dumps

Hi Jamie, I don't have a direct answer for you but our experience suggests that majority of crashes are because TM1 Web is running out of memory. The main cause of this tends to be. 1. The shipped default is too low, it should be increased. 2. Too much white space in an excel sheet. The white space ...

Re: Planning Analytics Perspectives Issue

Pretty sure that they both can't be loaded in Excel at once but you don't have to uninstall PAx It works for a while but for example if you try and slice from a perspectives cube viewer with PAx loaded but not connected then the slice fails. From our experience perspectives works fine if you don't h...
