Re: Using Alternative Hierarchies to calc stock balances

Hi Harvey,

Can I ask what release you are on? Local or on premise? I've tried several times to get something broadly similar to what you list working but with no success.

Cheers

Re: add part of dimension to a new dimension

If this is a one off then if you select the structure sorted by hierarchy in the source subset, hit Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V in the dimension editor for the destination then it works pretty well.

Re: Feeders Not Fed

I'm not convinced you have the basic concept of feeders correct. A rule points at a source. A feeder points at the ruled area. Your rule for Day 2 is dependant on the input values for Day 1 and 2. Your feeder for Day 2 has to flag the day 2 cumulative value from the dependant values, but you can not...

Re: Feeders Not Fed

Think about it like this. Day 1 feeds Days 1 to 31 Day 2 feeds Days 2 to 31 => I need to create a consolidation structure that is the "Rest of Month" (RoM), the opposite of MTD. ['MTD H0' ] =N: DB('Daily Sales Trend', !Customer Regions, !Days Trending|'MTD', !Months, !Product Lines, 'Daily HO'); ['D...

Re: Feeders Not Fed

Your rule is dependant on the prior days in the period and you have built a consolidation for this and put it in your rule. Given that feeders and rules are opposites. Your feeder should trigger the future days, therefore you need to build a consolidation for this and put it in your feeder. In gener...

Re: Feeders Not Fed

I know what the answer so I'm going to give you some clues. If you think about this in a logical manner it should be straight forward to understand. Work backwards through your feeder logic for Day 7. RPD is not fed, my feeder says it is fed by MTD H0 or Daily HO. Therefore both MTD HO or Daily HO m...

Hi mcamargo,

Could you elaborate on the crash and strange things please? It would be good to know some details of the use case so that we can determine if we are likely to be impacted.

Many thanks,

Steve

Re: Cumulative balance in TI or Rule

For the TI a lot will depend on how your data arrives and if you only do single day at a time and it arrives in time order. If you can be sure you are processing daily data in day order then your TI can just take todays total, yesterdays cumulative, sum them and add it to todays cumulative. For me t...

Re: Cumulative balance in TI or Rule

Several ways come to mind. Have a cumulative day consolidation in your dimension, this could be built in a straight forward way with a TI. Your cumulative HO measure could then reference this in a rule. [Cumulative HO] = N: DB ( ......'Daily HO' , !Day | 'Cumulative'....); i.e. !Day | ' Cumulative' ...

Poll : Which version of Excel is used in your business

It would appear that IBM are withdrawing support of Excel 2010 for both Perspectives and PAx in the Planning Analytics release as from 1st of March 2018. I don't think this has been announced anywhere but it can seen as a footnote in the prerequisites section of the Software Product Compatibility Re...

Re: PAX - Does it have rules tracer?

You should consider that this forum is not run by IBM and both the OP and macsir should take care with blanket statements like that made above. There are a lot of assumptions in the previous statement, starting with "IBM consider the rule tracer to be developer only functionality", the above post is...

Re: How to reset views and tabs in TM1 applications web

Hi, I think I missed the point... You are talking about a users "view" of the published public View object which the TM1 Application functionality is remembering so that when they log back in they are in the same place as when they left. Not something I have ever tried to interfere with so not sure ...

Re: How to reset views and tabs in TM1 applications web

Not sure we have the full picture here.

If the views you are talking about are public views then don't give users the rights to save them, then then there should not be an issue.

If you need to reset public views then do it in a TI process rather than messing around in the file system.

Re: Count in rules

The key thing with feeders to remember is all the action is at the N level, it is impossible to feed a consolidated cell. Consolidated cells are fed internally when an N level under it becomes non-zero. This is why your consolidation is not showing, since all the cells below it are zero the cell has...

Re: Count in rules

If you have persistent feeders on, which you probably do by default then I suggest turning it off, stopping the server, deleting the .feeder files and restarting. It is possible if you are have written the rule after loading the data that the feeders are not being triggered. Others may disagree but ...

Re: Count in rules

Good link, should be required reading. The other thing to consider is when it is appropriate to use a rule. Given that the number that drives this is loaded from a TI, it would have been easy to populate the count value at the same time. Although this would use more RAM at rest, the eventual calcula...

Re: Where is data source for TI in PAW?

Yup, IBM are in the process of migrating all admin / development functionality from Perspective / Architect to PAW. Whilst the PAW piece has been done for the main scripting pages, the datasource and variables parts have not yet been migrated. So you need to set-up the TI in the old world still. Onc...

Re: TI process is not getting executed from a Worksheet Application. Please help kind folks!

I'd be checking what is happening something along the follow lines. If I'm logged in as admin and when I hit the button the TI executes (i.e. I have checked the log and see it runs) then I know the action button is working. If nothing happens server side then the Action button is broken and need to ...

Re: PAW questions

Wim, I encountered the DimSiz hole as well, was told that you can use DimSiz('dimname:hierarchyname') to get the correct value back, believe this works with many of the old style TI functions if you can't find the equivalent. Not sure if this is formally supported though so I'd use the new functions...

Re: Anyway to prevent Files to Accidentally DBSW ?

A small extension to the conditional DBS is to put some VBA in the auto open event of the work book that turns the flag off and/or the before close event. That way the workbook always requires the flag to be set manually and it doesn't matter if the workbook is saved with the flag on or the workbook...
