Re: Count the number of children and store it as an attribute for the parent

Ok, then the rule is the way to go.

['Customer Count']=N:If ( Customer is active=1 , 1 , 0);

Re: Count the number of children and store it as an attribute for the parent

I wouldn't use an attribute as this stops the measure adding up. If you create a 2d cube of Customer and a Measure dimension with an element "customer count". Then either Just fully expand the customer dimension and spread a 1 into all cells "r|1" if you have customers on rows. or more dynamically u...

Like most of the TM1 functions you can use Application.Run("DBRW" , Arg1 , Arg2, etc)

Did you try the old version of the function but using dimname:hiername for the dimension argument?

Re: }ElementAttributes Rule and TI conflict

Sounds like you are doing a delete and rebuild to the objects concerned. This is usually a pretty bad idea, it is much better to clear (data, alias values, structure) and refresh, this avoids issues in the servers object model like the one you have encountered where a rule is flagged as invalid when...

Re: how tm1 locks work at the time the view is read

When working on this type of issue previously there were two types of locks that we had to manage in addition to getting the TI process correct. One is cube dependency for rules, the engine builds most of these when the server starts however it seems to miss out those related to attribute cubes. Whe...

Re: Chore resubmitting itself when Locked out by another Process

It's PAx now John not CAFE..... Sounds to me that your chore is getting stuck in rollback loop that is clashing with the other jobs lock. You can turn the logging up so that you can see what is happening in the locking model, this might give you some clues as to what is really happening. (http...

Re: IBM TM1 license details

This isn't a good place to get confirmation on licence details. The only really accurate place is from the people who sold you the software. The exact nature of your licence agreement will vary depending on when you bought it. If it is a recent purchase then a named user has the rights to log into a...

Re: Modifying Set Editor Defaults

You can use the }HierarchyProperties cube to control the default member in PAW, discussed in here https://community.watsonanalytics.com/discussions/questions/38415/a-way-to-make-hierarchyproperties-dynamic.html on IBMs forum. I'm not sure that this is exactly what you are asking for though, maybe yo...

Hi Harvey,

Can I ask what release you are on? Local or on premise? I've tried several times to get something broadly similar to what you list working but with no success.

Cheers

Re: add part of dimension to a new dimension

If this is a one off then if you select the structure sorted by hierarchy in the source subset, hit Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V in the dimension editor for the destination then it works pretty well.

Re: Feeders Not Fed

I'm not convinced you have the basic concept of feeders correct. A rule points at a source. A feeder points at the ruled area. Your rule for Day 2 is dependant on the input values for Day 1 and 2. Your feeder for Day 2 has to flag the day 2 cumulative value from the dependant values, but you can not...

Re: Feeders Not Fed

Think about it like this. Day 1 feeds Days 1 to 31 Day 2 feeds Days 2 to 31 => I need to create a consolidation structure that is the "Rest of Month" (RoM), the opposite of MTD. ['MTD H0' ] =N: DB('Daily Sales Trend', !Customer Regions, !Days Trending|'MTD', !Months, !Product Lines, 'Daily HO'); ['D...

Re: Feeders Not Fed

Your rule is dependant on the prior days in the period and you have built a consolidation for this and put it in your rule. Given that feeders and rules are opposites. Your feeder should trigger the future days, therefore you need to build a consolidation for this and put it in your feeder. In gener...

Re: Feeders Not Fed

I know what the answer so I'm going to give you some clues. If you think about this in a logical manner it should be straight forward to understand. Work backwards through your feeder logic for Day 7. RPD is not fed, my feeder says it is fed by MTD H0 or Daily HO. Therefore both MTD HO or Daily HO m...

Many thanks,

Re: Cumulative balance in TI or Rule

For the TI a lot will depend on how your data arrives and if you only do single day at a time and it arrives in time order. If you can be sure you are processing daily data in day order then your TI can just take todays total, yesterdays cumulative, sum them and add it to todays cumulative. For me t...

Re: Cumulative balance in TI or Rule

Several ways come to mind. Have a cumulative day consolidation in your dimension, this could be built in a straight forward way with a TI. Your cumulative HO measure could then reference this in a rule. [Cumulative HO] = N: DB ( ......'Daily HO' , !Day | 'Cumulative'....); i.e. !Day | ' Cumulative' ...

Poll : Which version of Excel is used in your business

It would appear that IBM are withdrawing support of Excel 2010 for both Perspectives and PAx in the Planning Analytics release as from 1st of March 2018. I don't think this has been announced anywhere but it can seen as a footnote in the prerequisites section of the Software Product Compatibility Re...

There are a lot of assumptions in the previous statement, starting with "IBM consider the rule tracer to be developer only functionality", the above post is...
