PAx and Issues with Excel Status Bar

Hi, We've had a few reports from customers that the status bar in Excel stops working, the piece where you can highlight a cell range and get the sum / count /average and so forth in the bottom right hand corner. I'm sure I saw another posting on here that mentioned it in passing but can't find it n...

Re: Filtered by string measure in a 3 dimension cube

Ohhh that "FIlter by View Extract"

That doesn't work for me either! You can get pretty close with the ordinary filter button though....

Re: Filtered by string measure in a 3 dimension cube

Hi Wim,

See below, you can tell the recorder is on because the Save button is greyed out. I seem to get the same behaviour irrespective of how I access the subset editor or the release

Re: Ordering of Dimensions

So the rule of thumb is shortest sparsest to longest and most dense. I don't think that density is as simple as (No of populated cells/ No of N level cells), it is more "if Element 1 is populated, if I keep all the other cell references the same, what is the likelihood of Element 2 being populated a...

Re: Security Access Flag not being Deployed

Not sure if this has changed at some point but I've always had to do this since this bit of logic was introduced. Not sure where the security access state of a TI is stored, I would have though there ought to a }Process_Properties cube somewhere but I've never spotted where. AFAIK the security state...

Re: Filtered by string measure in a 3 dimension cube

Hi Wim, I do this a lot to get the base form of the MDX that I want to use in active forms or elsewhere so it is very much possible. Maybe one of those things that was not available on first release and you've not revisited? That happens to me, small change that I've not picked up on, or maybe just ...

Re: Filtered by string measure in a 3 dimension cube

If you still have access to the Perspectives subset editor then you can record the MDX for what you want by turning the recorder on and then using the filter dialogue.

Re: Export Cube ViewTo Excel/CSV

Hmmm, you need to convert each field/column/variable to a string independently, so if you have 5 numeric variables then you'll need to write. AsciiOutput( 'WhyIsThisFunctionNameSoLong.cma' , NumberToString( v1) , NumberToString( v2) , NumberToString( v3) , NumberToString( v4) , NumberToString( v5) )...

Re: stored values in tm1

This issue comes up fairly often and is caused by the floating point arithmetic used by computers in general to store values, simply put not all decimal numbers can be stored exactly in binary leading to very small rounding issues. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floating-point_arithmetic In this mann...

Re: PAW installation help

We found that there was a step up in RAM required for PAW to launch in a recent release, previously 8GB was sufficient for the OS and PAW but no longer. We got it to run up on 9 just but would suggest spec'ing a PAW box at 16GB for comfort. We found that installs on W16 with sufficient RAM for docke...

Re: Server Locked after save data process and save data is running for a long time .

I'd have a think about how those views are used and created. Going from the naming I'd guess they are part of the data load. How are they created (i.e. permanent, old style built in a TI view, new temporary views built in a TI) How are they deleted (no need, at the end of the job, we don't bother as...

Re: Feeding a C Level Calculation

I'm not 100% sure but I think you have to have a non-zero value under the C, either as the result of a rule and a feeder or a value.

For me your design is off, why not just have an N level rule?

Re: Direct version of dimension updates

Thanks for the input.

So if you were looping over a SQL source and doing direct inserts it would make sense to do a DimensionUpdateDirect in the Epilog of the master TI or the data load TI after ever read.

Direct version of dimension updates

Hi, The benefits of the direct version of dimension updates are well known, i.e. you only need to process the datasource once. Has anyone encountered any disbenefits? i.e. increased lockiness or slower processing than doing it twice? Just curious and haven't the time to set up so clear tests. Cheers,

Re: Exporting data from view to file consuming memory

Gratz on your 100th post. You have two options (probably). 1. Feed your rules, this is the right solution. 2. Export your data in even smaller chunk, this is a workaround to not doing the above. Maybe if you explain why your rules are so hard to feed you'll get a solution, you are currently trying t...

Re: Exporting data from view to file consuming memory

If your dataset is not fed then the RAM consumption on exporting will be much larger than it needs to be, how much bigger depends on the level of sparsity. How many zero values are in the flat file (assuming you don't filter them out on export). Every zero will cost just as much as a value. The only...

Re: MTQ Question - Not using more CPU

A complete guess from your screen shot.. The view and cube you are working with is rule based and the rule dependency with the attribute cube was not built at the time the view was requested. This forces the system single threaded when the dependency is added. Does anything show in the logs? You can...

Re: MTQ Question - Not using more CPU

Hi,
Difficult to answer this exactly but unless you are on a very current release then MTQ does not work on views that are the datasource for a TI, you need to pre-calculate the view first (ViewConstruct) and then use it as the source.

Re: Parallel run vs. ICX

Hi PeteB,

Please don't use other posts to drum up support for your RFE, we have a specific forum to post details of RFE in (http://www.tm1forum.com/viewforum.php?f=19).

If we allow this behaviour posts will become a mess of the OPs topic and people boosting their RFEs.

Many thanks,
