Re: Feeders: rule based on constant values

Normally you've got 3 options with this: 1) Don't feed it 2) Feed with with an element constant (an example that's not related may be price) 3) Variable feed from the constant, which may be an issue if your variable is constantly changing You may want to also look at making the element a consolidati...

Re: attributes in data tab

Something to consider is commitment... Now then fellas don't all run away!!! I mean when TM1 commits changes. Unless you're using the add direct formula the elements aren't committed to the dimension until once the meta tab has been completed. As others have others have stated attributes are simply ...

Re: Service Strange Behaviour

Finally found out. It was nothing to do with whether or not the processes were loaded in to memory. They were. The issue was to do with CAM and security. We think the groups dimension had become corrupted. When logging in we were not assigned to any group so we could not see anything or save anythin...

Re: Service Strange Behaviour

I don't really get what you mean. When an instance starts the }chores, }cubes, }dimensions, }processes (& }applicationentries) dimensions are all updated based on the file contents of the data directory. So when you say When the service starts no processes are being loaded in to memory yet the }pro...

Re: Service Strange Behaviour

Alan, You're right no processes show up in performance muddler.... I mean perspectives. Frankly I'm almost insulted that you'd think I'd even have it installed never mind use it!!! Thank fully it's good old perspectives. My colleague got it working after I left. I'll find out what the issue was once...

Service Strange Behaviour

Guys, I've never seen this before. I have a simple service with 2 cubes and a bunch of processes. When the service starts no processes are being loaded in to memory yet the }processes dimension has been updated. When I try to update the a rule for one of the cubes it fails to save rule. Now straight...

Re: Data Saves not completing and retriggering 10.2.2 FP4

You really should NEVER have any other processes running when a Save Data is taking place, it's just going to cause problems. Turning on PI is not going to help because Save Data saves the entire cube at once, not just the area you changed. You need to go back and create a schedule that ensures tha...

Re: Question - Stack Overflow

Sounds like you're over feeding to me. But it could be something else, you've not given much to go off. Do you see any spikes in memory when you attempt the load?

Jim.

Re: Replace hard coded rule values with cube value

When your lookup changes you'll need to re-compile your feeders. Unless something has changed that's always been the case variable feeders.

Re: Planning Analytics using twice the memory of 10.1

This goes back to the point I raised earlier regarding attribute based alternate hierarchies. Performance would be hit if the dimension had run in memory before the alt hierarchy, if it was already it would be an advantage. You could also argue it would have initial performance updates after restart...

Re: Planning Analytics using twice the memory of 10.1

I do wonder if this memory increase is down to them adding the attribute based hierarchies? I doubt we'd be able to prove it either way, but for me the biggest difference between the 2 versions,

Jim.

Re: Planning Analytics using twice the memory of 10.1

Unfortunately this does not seems to be the cause of the problem, or if it is then it is not confined to time dimensions. You made me think there Paul. I originally thought Lotsa only gave a time dimension as an example. I went back and that seems to be the case. He does not specifically say that i...

Re: Drop Down Calendar Selection

BTW A pick list isn't just a single list. If you do create a pick list cube (or not) you can link the lists via rules for say Day, Month and year to only show the values as they apply, so you can set month to null if no year is selected, then set day to null if no month and then change the values di...

Re: TM1 Usage of more Memory each time a Process is used

Hello there, Points about this are spread across this board but difficult to find. Basically TM1 caches values for users to come back to. Theory being that if you cache the value rather than calculate it every time you get better performance. When a data change comes in however, TM1 no longer uses t...
