Re: How should I do it? I want to modify the rules without anyone using TM1.

I recall a post but cannot track it down, suggesting that a good way to lock CAM/AD users out while work is going on is to change IntegratedSecurityMode from 5 to 1. This TM1S.CFG is dynamic in PA 2 at least (not I believe in TM1 10.x) https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSD29G_2.0.0/com...

Re: Hierarchy as a Datasource

It works just fine. The trick is to set the hierarchy as the dimension source with DatasourceNameForServer variable with the hierarchy's "full name" as it appears in }Dimensions. You can't use just the hierarchy name and have to concatenate the dimension name with colon as hierarchy names aren't uni...

Re: Hierarchy Attribute Functions

To further clarify, you would add attributes to a dimension so that you can store attribute information about the elements within that dimension. To store attribute information about hierarchy names, you don't add attributes to dimension:hierarchy, you have to add them to the dimension that has dim...

Okay, got what I wanted by using "Caption" as the alias attribute. Wish this was a little more flexible, but can make this work.
The Caption attribute doesn't have to be an alias, it can also be a text attribute. (But is does have to be called "Caption".)

Re: Data Saves not completing and retriggering 10.2.2 FP4

Hi Wim, Yes basically. I think the middle of the day data save is causing or has potential to cause more problems than it solves. If the server can't acquire the locks it needs for the save data and this is causing "thrashing" with multiple rollbacks and restarts then this is going to have performan...

Re: Data Saves not completing and retriggering 10.2.2 FP4

Hi Wim, Based on your description I would do 2x SaveData - immediately before the loads from SAP (01:30). Make sure all user entered data from daily activities is committed to disk - immediately after load from SAP finishes (07:00). Make sure all data changes from source system done without transact...

Re: Data Saves not completing and retriggering 10.2.2 FP4

We are running into an occasional issue where our data save (running on a chore) is not completing. It starts, we can see it running in Tm1Top, many other chores, processes and data loads are then happening alongside this. As others have said and as the IBM documentation states, the save data shoul...

Re: Creating subsets in Workspace

Even worse, even if a dimension belongs to a cube, but if you drag the dimension only into the workspace, you still can't open subset editor from there. I guess the purpose of this is to encourage you to utilize hierarchy rather than subset in the future. Am I right? :? I think maybe you are gettin...

Re: Creating subsets in Workspace

I may be missing something, but there does not appear to be a subset editor functionality for a dimension/hierarchy within Workspace IF the dimension does not belong to a cube. Is that correct and subsets for these dimensions must be created either through a TI or through the subset editor in Archi...

Re: DB function in rules with alternative hierarchies

Yes, the names are the same, it's by design. If you have C elements with the same name existing in different hierarchies of the same dimension then if you simply use 'dimension':'element' to reference the element in square brackets (or just 'element within DB()) then TM1 will throw an ambiguous ref...

Re: Order of Cube-Processing

TM1, if I am not mistaken, uses the index numbers of elements. And possibly the order of the dimensions in the cube can have precedence over the way you have them in your view (created by TI I assume ?). Yes the order of dimensions in the view is irrelevant. TM1 uses the (reindexed or "optimized") ...

Re: How to know last cube updated time in TM1

I have a scenario in which there is a cube export TI which executes every 15 min and places the file at the specific location. Now I need to enhance this logic in a way that the export TI should execute only when there is data change in the cube, not every 15 min as the former way is taking unncces...

Re: PAW - Attribute hierarchies, Element Security

Yes if you are using HierarchyDestroy and you have element security then if you re-create the hierarchy then the security for the hierarchy will be NONE for all elements, all groups. This is another reason why CreateHierarchyByAttribute is not really suitable for a production system on a chnaging di...

Re: TM1RPTRow with MDX Expression that Returns zero elements

If Excel is crashing if the set is null then you could quite easily work around this by doing a Union with a dummy employee (e.g. +{[employee].[no employee]} ) at the end of your existing MDX. If you don’t have a dummy element in the dimension you could create it. You could even then apply special f...

Re: Can't convert DBRW to DBSW

I cannot reproduce this in Excel 2016 (Office 365, 32 bits) and PA 2.0.5 on my laptop with Windows 10. Yes with Excel 2016 / Office365 it is working for me also. The issue occurs with Excel 2010 (which is still used by a few customers, mainly the larger ones). But given Excel 2010 is on limited sup...

Re: Planning Analytics using twice the memory of 10.1

This goes back to the point I raised earlier regarding attribute based alternate hierarchies. Performance would be hit if the dimension had run in memory before the alt hierarchy, if it was already it would be an advantage. You could also argue it would have initial performance updates after restar...

Can't convert DBRW to DBSW

I just came across a new bug in perspectives which I think is new to PA. I see the below describes behaviour using Excel 2010 but it is the normal behaviour using Office365 latest version of Excel. If a cell already contains a DBRW formula then if you change the formula to a DBSW or DBS then on ente...

Re: Loading to Database; ideas

if all the attribute elements for a project loaded in a one go, I will have to make so many number of DB calls. Any ideas? Please let me know if there are questions. If the data source is a view then TI sees for data processing it as if all dimensions are nested on rows and processing of views is a...

Re: Planning Analytics using twice the memory of 10.1

Unfortunately this does not seems to be the cause of the problem, or if it is then it is not confined to time dimensions. You made me think there Paul. I originally thought Lotsa only gave a time dimension as an example. I went back and that seems to be the case. He does not specifically say that i...
