Have you tried 9.4.1 FP3?

Re: How to avoid that Excel turns into a bottleneck in TM1?
Seem to be missing talk of TM1 latency . Always best to benchmark performance on the server as a guide as to whether the issue is Rule Based, Excel Based, or Network based. Doesn't help that alternate versions of TM1 (even minor versions) can and do differ in performance.

Re: MS Reporting Services with TM1
We have been able to integrate TM1 with Sharepoint in a real-time Reporting environment - including the use of parameterised dropdowns to drive MDX statements for self-service reporting (no intermediary data-storage/data-hosting point is required). The integration was reasonably tricky to set up wit...

Re: Recalculation - what's going on?
Back 5 years ago the cost of 64 bit servers was horribly expensive, hence tweaking every expanding TM1 models to work within small 32-bit server enviornments was likely to be more common that nowadays.

Re: Rule Performance Tuning
Well written feeders should not slow a system down in use. Yes, they will take time on startup, but they are doing their job, to direct the engine to where there is data of value. 'Well written feeders '..... across my travels, the concept of feeders is easily the most mis-understood part of TM1 (F...

Re: Rule Performance Tuning
In environments with large sets of rules (and cubes) its important to determine first whether the bottlenecks are caused by rule calcs or feeders. Speaking generically - I go down the path of benchmarking performance first then ripping out all feeders and comparing performance vs the benchmark. It's...

Re: Express 64 - Admin can't create objects in Xcelerator (TM1)
The TM1p8.lic requirement was removed in 9.1SP4 and above (however it's not documented) - administration access is controlled by TM1 security. Not correct, you need the TM1p8.Lic file up to at least 9.4 to run as perspectives rather than client. The 9.4 splash screen is confusing since it now says ...

Re: Express 64 - Admin can't create objects in Xcelerator (TM1)
Vanilla TM1 requires tm1p8.lic to be in the C:\Windows (I think, maybe it's in the Documents and Settings folder along with tm1p.ini) of the client's PC. It's different from tm1s.lic. Martin The TM1p8.lic requirement was removed in 9.1SP4 and above (however it's not documented) - administration acc...

Re: Cube logging: what's not a good idea?
I reccomend a simple rule. "Try use cube logging only to capture user input, because thats all you'd ever want to restore." Anything else data wise is typically TI (which can be reloaded) or rules (Which dont 'dissapear' anyway). Assume you mean LOGGING ON as default and then you logging ...

Re: Any new news regarding TM1 performance over WAN?
Hi John - yes 9.4 and above there were improvements in WAN peformance within Cube Viewers in TM1. Unforutnately this doesn't cover the Excel Reporting side (active forms, standand TM1/Excel function calls). In my experience - ping times less than 10ms are likely to be acceptable for TM1/Excel report...

Re: Any new news regarding TM1 performance over WAN?
I remember investigating some time ago the concept of changing the size of the packets being sent from the server (this is a Windows server setting and not specific to TM1)- hearsay was that tweaking this could in some instances help circumvent the latency problem across a WAN. Had a network enginee...

Re: Any new news regarding TM1 performance over WAN?
TM1 Performance over a WAN has always been something of a hurdle - to some extent performance using TM1 perspectives/cube viewer has been improved in between earlier versions and version 9.4 However, the TM1/Excel client and in particular some TM1/Excel functions are extrememly 'chatty' between clie...

Re: Quick TM1Top Question
The reason I asked the question is that Top doesn't always stop a user action. I seem to remember that this feature was original in Ben Hills extended windows version or is it just me? Either way the problem I was having needed a server kill in the end. Always a joy, Jim. Jim - my rule of thumb is ...

Re: Asia Pacific User Conference in 2009?
Got back from the conference yesterday evening. A very good turnout and a great conference - quite a few IBM reps, Partners, and Delegates - by all accounts was one of the best attended IBM/Cognos conferences with a real solid interest in TM1. A great opportunity to hear first hand from IBM where TM...

Does anyone have any experience or comments on this release? Thanks, Rick. excel 2007 SP2 freezes very often when pressing F9 (or if you try to open a view) Martin - try swtiching the 'Enable Multi-Threading Calculation' off in your Excel 2007 Options before connecting to TM1. This setting is...

Just looking at that list - I'd almost swear stand-alone Excel could perform every single requirement you have. Just noting this b/c the original requester never asked 'how well TM1 works with each list item'.

Re: Manage stock accounts
Answer to your query really depends on what you want to report on. Essentially you're creating a rule based on your Month Dimension to calculate something defined in your stock dimension. Rather than going down the attribute path in your OBP_Accounts dimension, it would be more straight-forward to c...

Re: Changes in xdi not flowing through
.xdi files aren't generally used for changing element attributes. Their main function is to add/remove Elements/Consolidations in a given dimension.
Do you have references to DBSA functions in your .xdi files?

Re: TM1 is loaded but is not able to connect *URGENT*
A bit strange. Could be either the data directory or TM1 the application. Suggest clearing the data directory on the DEV server and restarting TM1. Should have a clean instance you can access - I'd suggest creating a few dummy users and logging in/out using these user credentials. If you can access ...
