TM1 REST API

Hi all, I have been playing around with the TM1 REST API recently, thanks to the useful information provided mainly by IBM, Cubewise. I use the Postman app on the desktop to test the queries that are sent. I have identified the following areas where I would like to receive feedback regarding the que...

Re: Can't convert DBRW to DBSW

Hello Lotsaram, I cannot reproduce this in Excel 2016 (Office 365, 32 bits) and PA 2.0.5 on my laptop with Windows 10. Not sure I am doig this right. I take a slice of level 0 cells, the slice contains 2 cells. I type 2 values below the cells with the DBRW formulas, and change the DBRW formula of th...

i would do it like this
A Cube with Dims: }ApplicationEntries and }Clients.
And a 3rd dimension for the measures even if now you only (seem to) have 1 measure ;-)

Re: MDX - FilterByPattern on Attributes

PS I like to keep the { }'s for the sake of my own sanity when checking the syntax! I like to keep them out. We have ( ) [ ] so an overdose of { } is just too much ! Also, Notepad++ does not recognize { } correctly in the syntax highlighting if } exists for control objects. This breaks down my synt...

Possibly with the latest version on TM1web offering better support for form controls
I just tried a Spinbutton in Excel, first Forms control, then Active X object.
Neither of them shows up in TM1 Web.
Do you have better experiences ?
I use Excel 2016 (Office 365) with PA 2.0.5

Do I need specify values for mdx for all dimensions in the cube.
Yes. Or, live with the fact that elements could be taken which you don't want.
For instance, element with index 1 in the dimension. So I would use values for the other dimensions too.

Re: MDX - FilterByPattern on Attributes

That's about the shortest you can have, IMO. Except the fact that { } are often not needed in MDX statements.
I wouldn't call it messy.

Re: Automating TM1 in VBA

I got it working !
Which is not necessarily the same as ‘I understand why and what I’m doing’.

I’ll post up when I get the chance and after implementing with the customer.

Thanks

Re: Automating TM1 in VBA

A few things to check but no dramatic insights. Is trust programmatic access to VBA checked for the user concerned? (Cross posted) Which mode of security, assuming mode 1? Which version exactly of perspectives, I'm pretty sure some "stuff" changed in the PA build. Did you have this working before /...

Re: Automating TM1 in VBA

Hi Paul Thanks for replying. I turned off/disabled about any setting I find in the Excel Options. Macros run with no restrictions at all. Trusting access to the VBA project object model, no yellow bars at the top, etc. If I run the vbs manually, it opens Excel, does all the stuff (including N_Connec...

Automating TM1 in VBA

Hello all, Strange case I am encountering. I have a macro in an xlsm file in Excel that would: - open TM1p.xla - log on to TM1 with an admin user - open a report from the Applications folder - change the report data at the top of the report - refresh (= rebuild Active form) - save the report as PDF ...

Re: How to achieve the first login to TM1web to modify the personal password?

You log on with the password that was given to you, or with no password (if that's the case).
Check the box that states that you want to change the password.
TM1 Web will ask you the new password.

Or, thinking out loudly, DBS(W) to a staging cube where some dimensions contain concatenated elements - so you have less dimensions. Like, Year / Month / Version could be concatenated and merged in 1 (longer) dimension. Company and department likewise, currency and measure likewise, ... It depends o...

If you upgrade to PA you can use temporary views that will only exist for the duration of the process so there is no need to delete them.
Upgrading to 10.2.2 FP4 is sufficient for temporary views and subsets.

Re: Calling DBRW function without mentioning instance name in the first argument

Next to being impossible technically, I’m struggling to find a real life use case for this situation. So you want to retrieve a value from a cube, but you don’t know which TM1 instance the cube is in. I can understand that. But then the choice for which instance it is, is set in a cube. I get that t...

Re: Is there a way to refresh all Contributor Views of all users globally?

If this change is a one-off, why don't you either: - do it just before the server starts again - if not possible, introduce downtime of, say, 6 hours somewhere during the week. Is the model so critical that a planned downtime to change the functionality is not allowed ? Or is this change not a one-o...

What client do you use ? Architect/Perspectives - Performance Modeler - PAW ? Is it the advanced rules editor ? Haven't used that in a long time so I don't know it's still in use. What about copying rules to Notepad++ and copying back to the rules editor when you're done ? You can have color coding ...

deleting all views and restarting is not possible as our server takes about 5 hours to restart.
The model is operating 24/7 ? No time left for maintenance ?
Is this expected - 5 hours seems a long time (assuming the use of persistent feeders) ?
