Re: Documenting Security

Attached is a sample matrix that finally did the job of documenting security for a past project I delivered - it is admittedly "busy" but it seemed clear enough to hand over to the client's model administrator. Perhaps it will give you ideas you can use.

Re: TM1 cognos Integration Issue

on (1) I would echo Marcus' comment and add that in the }Hierarchy Properties control cube you may also have to input a name for each level of each dimension before publishing in Framework Manager for the cube you are reporting from in Cognos. I am not sure in 9.5 whether IBM Cognos has made this cu...

Re: Active Form error and/or crash in Excel

Thanks for the responses & confirmation of similar situations. My recent experience occurred with version 9.4.1 on 32 bit laptop (windows XP/Excel 2007) and on 64 bit server (windows 2003/Excel 2003). Some info back from IBM indicates that the names of dimensions in the cube may play a role in t...

Active Form error and/or crash in Excel

I have a model where some cubes work fine with Active forms and other cubes cause either malformed/partial Active Forms or throw an Excel error about tm1api.dll which crashes Perspectives. I have tested whether it is certain dimensions, subsets, private, public, with data, without data, to no avail,...

TM1 9.4 Fix Pack 2 (FP2)

i heard this FP2 was released this week & it is available for download - judging from the fix list (uploaded here) , there are many important changes that should help avert issues with 9.4 models.

Re: Process Worksheets - recent experience

Excel was not the culprit in my case. I should cited it was Excel 2003 (with TM1 9.4 MR1) where I ran into the Process Worksheet issues. The data being loaded is not that extensive either, so the truncation issue was very unusual.

Re: Process Worksheets - recent experience

Not to belabor the point (and at the risk of repeating my post from another thread), but I found the following statement buried in the 9.4 on-screen help documentation: “Processing worksheets, while a valid means of importing data, are deprecated functionality in the current TM1 release. We strong...

Re: TM1 9.4 - cubes more sensitive to dimension order?

Not to be the bearer of bad news on Process Worksheets, but I found the following statement buried in the 9.4 on-screen help documentation: “Processing worksheets, while a valid means of importing data, are deprecated functionality in the current TM1 release. We strongly recommend using TurboInteg...

Martin
can you post a follow-up (after a reasonable lag) whether donations have met the goal? I donated, but it's hard to guesstimate the "cheap"-"low"- "generous" spectrum. Many thanks for a great resource.

Process Worksheets - recent experience

Has anyone run into the following situation that I found: I am aware that Cognos has "deprecated" offering Technical Support for Process Worksheets in 9.4.... but I had a recent client upgrade from 9.0.2 with Process Worksheets to 9.4.MR1 (the client's prior license did not include Turbo-I...

Re: TM1 9.4 - cubes more sensitive to dimension order?

(in response to Steve's comment) In a recent upgrade from 9.0.2 to 9.4 MR1, I found that a flat-file Process Worksheet DID take significantly longer to load data (the cube dim order was optimal). Have not worked with models that might exhibit the symptoms Mike posted. See my other thread for other r...

Re: Pivot tables in Excel 2007

this may at least offer hope - in the documentation for TM1 9.4 (not sure about the original post version), the compatibility with Excel 2007 is discussed. There are a couple features that TM1 is not yet able to support (pivot tables and some type of filtering). There were another couple features th...

Re: Can anyone help to give any TM1 fundamental

Based on my experience with Cognos Planning, I would advise a review of ALL TM1 documentation/consideration of all Developer type classes. Obviously OLAP concepts apply to both products, but object features and behavior can differ greatly. A colleague attended the standard Dec 2008 TM1 Developer cou...

Re: How do feeders actually work?

Feeder syntax question: I just came across a feeder written in the form ['a'] => ['b'],['c]; John, this syntax has appeared in 2 versions of class manuals (May, Sept 2008) for the developer classes taught by IbmCog. That said, the remaining class coverage on Feeders will do little to help new folks...
