Re: Dynamic subset and rule execution
I second Tomok's comment, and would just add that I edges are calculated first - rules apply to the cells, and aren't evaluated unless needed to satisfy a query for a cell, which isn't known until the edges are evaluated. If the edge's require cell evaluation to show (Top/Bottom X, value filter, etc...

Re: performance modeler unable to connect to the planning service
Difficult to determine from the information here - there are a number of things that might prevent communication. You might get more detailed information by turning logging on and reviewing the client side logs. This link details how to enable, and where the logs will come out: http://www-01.ibm.com...

Re: TM1 Contributor Workflow
There are two places that would be checked for clients - the configuration (which must have clients available to offer them to a specific configuration) and then the application properties. In the configuration, you should see something like http://servername:9510/tm1web/Contributor.jsp at least sin...

Re: TM1 Performance Modeler expression syntax
In Performance Modeler, links are the "wizard" approach to DB statements - but these can't be created in a dimension calc (N/Leaf or C/Consolidated). You'd be able to create links if you use a Cube Calc (which I would recommend over dimension calcs almost always anyway, as they have scope)...

Re: Planning to TM1 using Performance Modeler
I know folks who are quite happy with the model migration tool - for a quick PoC or playground to start building with, but as everyone else indicates, that shouldn't be the basis for the model. I saw 3 different customers in one month recently use the same assumption modeling approach in TM1 as they...

Re: TM1TupleSize function
Not sure I can imagine a lot of practical applications for TM1TupleSize (that aren't better served by the default behavior of other functions), but it "works" as far as I can tell. It expects a tuple, and I think many of us more commonly work with sets, so that may throw some people of. To...

Re: Distinguish String elements in an MDX
I might be missing something, but if the dimension had at least one cube that it was used in (as the format dimension), then an expression should demonstrate the strings like so: EXCEPT({TM1SUBSETALL( [MyDim] )},{ FILTER( {TM1SUBSETALL( [MyDim] )}, [MyCube].[MyDim].CurrentMember<3.402823E38 AND [MyC...

Re: Performance Modeler: Unable to edit control objects
Sorry to notice this question until 8 months later, but posted a video to help, as I've heard this from a few folks last week - it's actually easy, just not obvious - I rather suspect this will be improved in the future. Can I work with Control Objects in Performance Modeler? One caveat I haven't ad...

Re: Data string length
I know this is a very old thread, but I came here by searching with the same question, and didn't get exactly the answer I was hoping for, so I tried it myself with a quick test. Thought I'd give anyone else who lands here a tested result - ~2.2M characters copied and pasted from a good text editor ...

Re: Server created via Cognos Insight
I only ever use CI to create server instances, so the exact differences are more of a guess that a certainty... no matter what they are, they will be very minor. Clever folks often move servers both ways (i.e. pack an existing instance into a .cdd file, then publish that) The server data directory, ...

Re: TM1 V10.1 Release; New features And issues
Sorry dpusch - we didn't support provisioning/launching via Chrome in the currently available releases - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27021976 (this may have been why we didn't) This isn't a great answer, but there are a couple of options: Use a different browser (if you aren't r...

Re: TM1 V10.1 Release; New features And issues
Hmm... should have joined a long time ago - was a long time before anyone reported the rumor that CI needs admin rights to work with TM1. CI does NOT require admin rights to work with TM1 - have posted more details in the analyticzone, but would rather not have the rumour float around. The administr...
