Re: Web Dashboards via REST API
If I understand your idea correctly, then Cubewise thinks it's a great idea, and they developed a thing called 'Canvas'. Of course it is not freely available, so if you create smth similar and free, you'll make a lot of people happy.

Re: Performance Modeler Issue
In less than 24 hours 'Rights' page was back to normal, which is a good news. I have no faintest idea what I did to achieve this, which is a bad news. All in all, I have a mixed bag of news, and while still confused, ready to move on.

Re: Performance Modeler Issue
I have a very similar case. I added several users and groups, opened my 'Application Design' page, went to my last application and assigned new rights. Deployed application, tested new rights using several different logins to make sure I did not make any mistakes. Then, when I was certain it's ok, I...

Re: Duplication of values in the cube
No argument here, Alan :) Information is too scarce, to the point when you start to wonder, if OP really wants any help. And I did not see previous topic. The experience with incorrectly created view to zero out before importing data was acquired the hard way. So I felt I could share it in hope that...

Re: Duplication of values in the cube
There can be an error in your data importing process. If your process expects to aggregate several numbers from source into "ONE value at the intersection of ONE element from EACH dimension in a cube", it probably uses CellIncrementN command. And if TM1 developer made a mistake and the vie...

Re: Request for Help, TM1 10.2.2 Architect does noch connect to all servers
I had a problem recently, when I could not connect to all servers from Client machine with Architect. The issue was with SSL certificates. We used an automated option to update certificates on client machine, but it did not work for some reason. After we did it again manually, the problem was gone. ...

Re: TM1 10.2.2 Fix Pack 7 delayed
Does it actually address the issue that Alan mentioned? I don't see it in "Issues corrected in IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 FP7.", but may be they don't consider it an issue... That's supposed to be the one that has the "You don't need to waste time fluffing around with gorramn SSL certifica...

Re: Weird (?) 'Str' function
It's TM1's way of saying to you "I honestly don't know what the hell you're trying to do here, so here's my best guess". The core problem is that neither of those functions make any real-world sense when used with those arguments. The Str() function has three arguments: - The number being...

Weird (?) 'Str' function
I was using Str function in my TI process and had unexpected results. I started investigating and simplifying the case, and this is the test case I finally came to: R = 123456789.5123; P = 123456789.888; filePath = 'D:\ProcessOutput\output.txt'; TextOutput (filepath, 'R - '|Str (R,3,1), 'P - '|Str (...

CX and Linux
I see that CX is now available for Linux. Cognos Express 10.2.2 Supported Software Environments http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27045983 With this version IBM decided to drop their "simple to install, simple to buy, simple to use" approach, with 1 big .exe file and "N...

Re: Time dimension consolidation - help with rules needed
Why are you making this so difficult? This is a very common scenario, I've used it on multiple occasions without issue. I agree it's very common. I make it so difficult because I am only learning, and don't know all efficient approaches and best practices. Additionally, Enterprise Planning experien...

Re: Time dimension consolidation - help with rules needed
You are taking the wrong approach, you shouldn't need consolidate children at all. I'd like to avoid it too. I was overly optimistic yesterday, performance problems returned. If I turn off 'consolidate children' rules, they are gone. But then I have this problem . Typically CB is a consolidation of...

Re: Time dimension consolidation - help with rules needed
ConsolidateChildren() is a very useful function but if it's not completely necessary I would tend to avoid it and I think in your case putting an IF statement into you opening balance calculation at C-level to just use standard TM1 consolidation where the Managers dimension is a consolidation would...

Re: Time dimension consolidation - help with rules needed
In my task the calculation dimension is quite big with a lot of elements and calculations, so I tried to keep it plain and simple at first. Now I decided to check if I could move some rules to consolidations, and it appeared that I could. Back to my demo cube. I applied consolidation logic to closin...

Time dimension consolidation - help with rules needed
Many of you with Cognos Enterprise Planning experience remember 'First Period' and 'Last Period' settings. They were very useful for working with all sorts of opening and closing balances. I tried to model this behavior using attributes. My real life cube has several big dimensions. I made a very si...

Re: Allocation best practice advice and help with rules need
Out of professional curiosity and for the sake of experience I decided to finish set of rules and feeders for the above cube. The result is on attached screenshot. Seems to work correctly, but I wonder: is it optimal?
